Vinnie Krebs, from Brookfield, CT, will enter the Hot Seat on Friday.

Vinnie Krebs, who is 45 and works at Brewster Honda, said it wasn't his idea to audition for the game show, but he's glad he did. For a full story on his adventure, see Friday's Weekend section.
It wasn't his idea...

New tactic for you, Marley. "It wasn't my idea to try out the first time I did it, but the whole process was so fascinating I wanted to go through it again. And again. And again. And ..."
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

But it was my idea to try out the first time. And the process isn't exactly what I'd call "fascinating".

And I think they've noticed my persistence already. :|

Here's the longer article about Vinnie that they promised.

http://www.newstimes.com/latestnews/ci_8404250
Krebs, who is 45 and works at Brewster Honda, said his televised adventure started last fall. That's when longtime friend Jen Tymula had an extra ticket to see the show filmed. The live taping was at a studio in New York City and she invited him to join her.

After the taping was over, Tymula said, audience members were offered a chance to try out.

"We had to take a test in a separate back room," she explained. "Vinnie didn't want to take the test. It was very fast, just: 'On your mark, get set, go!' It was a timed thing.

"Then there were interviews for those who passed. It's funny because I didn't pass and Vinnie did, and he didn't even want to take the test to begin with!"
I could just cry.
Krebs didn't think much would come of it. After all, during a typical season of "Millionaire," there are 30,000 applicants and only 300 are chosen as contestants.

But two weeks after he auditioned, Krebs was driving home at 5 p.m. when he got a call from representatives of the show. They wanted him to be at the studio at 7 a.m. the next morning.
A last minute surprise. I hope he was able to function on two hours sleep.

Yes, I know there were 14 hours between The Call and arriving at the studio, Rexer, but a paragraph I didn't quote said he only got two hours of sleep, with all the preparations and excitement.

I'm sorry, Marley, I intended to include a smart-ass comment in my post, but I'm in a coughing-induced haze today, so it's harder than usual to focus long enough to complete any tasks.

Ya know, I think that's the first time I've ever apologized for not being a smart-ass. Prolly the last, too.

I thought the bolding of the p.m. and a.m. was your comment, even if it was on the subte side.

That's okay. You're feeling sick.

And if he were to diversify by opening a Honda motorcycle franchise, he could call it Krebs' Cycle.

Now, what other board could bring us such a lovely biochemistry pun?

Yeah, but why can't I think of an appropriate Many Lives of Dobie Gillis joke?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I saw Vinnie on today's show.
Spoiler

Let's just say that the human brain needs more than 2 hours of sleep to function properly-especially if you're about to go on national TV and have to deal with the pressure of answering questions.

I'll have more to say when the transcripts come out. I wasn't too impressed with him.
I'm just a game show nerd.
