#11: "The Sistine Crawlspace"

Debuted: 10/21/11

Image

The much anticipated sequel to last year's smash hit "Crawlspace Fanny", here our favourite down and dirty kitteh brings the paints with her to the basement to do a lovely painting on the 2 foot high ceiling. Michelangelo would be proud of the work, but Sprots will probably break out the nuclear weaponry now. In a loaded year, I put this one as high as my countdown conscience would allow me to. I love it more than the original, and who knows if there will be a Crawlspace Fanny III in 2012.....

What could possibly have been better than the last ten avatars to make it into the Top 10? We shall see.....

I was sure this was going to be #1.

Now I have no clue as to the what that will be.

And there are so many others still.

Hmmmm

Slightly?? Yeah, I guess you could say slightly..... Although so far you've only hit like three of my top 20, so there's got to be some crossover in the top 10.

Don't get me wrong, Sistine Crawlspace wasn't my #1 either, but not even top 10??????

Sorry, the Crawlspace cannot be inspired or manufactured. It must be organic, springing full grown from some meaningless story I throw out there, much like Athena from the brow of Zeus, the god of awesome.....

I'm sorry, folks, but the maximum occupancy of the crawlspace is two people and one cat... and one of the two people has to be no taller than 3'5". This is for your own safety! Do not make me drop a tear gas bomb in there!!!!

How many did I hit in the honorables? I'm sure there aren't still 17 of your Top 20 in play, we can't be that far apart....

Of those I have in the Top 10, I'd divide them into the following categories....

There are three which I am absolutely positive have to be in your Top 20. This includes tomorrow's avatar as well as the #1....

There are three others which I am reasonably sure are in your Top 20. All of these are in the Top 5....

There are two that I am pretty positive will not be on your Top 20 list.

That leaves two that I have absolutely no clue about whether you rated them or not....

There is one I know of that I'd be willing to bet ranks very high in your countdown that didn't even survive my first cut.... and I'd be willing to bet there's at least one or two more in your Top 10 that don't appear at all (Bowling ES and the spinning avatar both caught me by surprise last year)....

I believe that the honourable count was one. Make note of what specific avatars you're referencing in your surmisals here and I'll do the same and we'll see how it shakes out.

You're probably right about the very high ranking one that didn't even make your honourable cut. That happened like three or four times last time (Halloween and Hobo ES were two more that I don't think blipped your radar last year).

However, my criteria differ somewhat from yours. For one thing, audience reaction has absolutely no effect on my decisions, as half the time I don't even know what it was. Plus nobody's opinion matters to me other than my own. But, as the creator, I can see where that's a big part of your rankings.

On the other hand, backstory is very important to me. I'd say the top two things that influence me are backstory and that little extra toss in that takes something that might otherwise be ordinary and makes it a home run.

And sometimes just the name of the avatar will sway me one way or the other. Hiya, Plasma Partner being the obvious example for this and the 'home run'.

I was about to add a whole 'nother paragraph to my post about how my personal rankings would differ quite a bit from the official rankings, but then I realized that some of the comments I made to back that up might end up as spoilers for those who are paying good, close attention, so I scratched that part. If I were to make a second list of just personal favorites, I guarantee you about half of the honorables would be in that Top 20, some quite high on the list...

I didn't know that you also did a personal Top 20. That will be fun to see after I reveal mine. Perhaps they'll match up better. (Also I looked back at the honourable and there are two that are in my 20....)

Well, I don't know if they'd match up any better, but it'd certainly be different....

I have never before made up a personal Top 20, but it will be interesting to try....

Fanny needed the shelves stocked at Mecca with a fresh batch of Equate Pepto, and ES comes to the rescue! Having an important job that tends to go unrecognized, ES nonetheless cheerfully and efficiently goes about his job making sure that your favourite items are available for purchase. You gotta admire ES's attitude in this one, especially his smile under the circumstances of exactly where that name badge is clipped to....

Yes, the company should feature this avatar on posters for motivating their associates.

I'm not sure what they'd think about the name tag, though. :P

Now we're cookin'!

Although, as you might have guessed by the link you provided, this ranks a bit higher on my list than it does on yours.

Still and all, Top 10 is a plenty respectable showing. Unlike the travesty that was presented to us yesterday.....
