7 years ago today...

I went five for five in the old phone game playoff. A little while later, I got a call from AP Taryn Brill who told me that I was going to New York. How could that have been seven years ago?

I went to the GC and found what I posted right after finishing that playoff round. That's the good thing about the GC, being able to see the entire history all the way back to the beginning. Here's what I posted, with the spoiler function added (it's number 47181 if anyone is interested):

Now comes the hard part....waiting for that cellphone to ring.

My questions were:
Q1: Arrange these words to form the name of a popular actor:
1. Beek
2. Van
3. Der
4. James

Q2: US States by postal abbreviation geographically starting in the
east:
1. MT
2. CT
3. IA
4. HI

Q3: Periods of time by length, starting with the longest:
1. Day
2. Leap year
3. Olympiad
4. Score of years

Q4: Songs by when they won the Grammy for "Song of the Year,"
starting with the earliest:
1. "Streets of Philadelphia"
2. "My Heart Will Go On"
3. "You Light Up My Life"
4. "We Are the World"

Q5: Authors by birth, starting with the earliest:
1. Don Delillo
2. Miguel de Cervantes
3. E.M. Forster
4. one of the Brontee sisters

Wish me luck everyone.....

Because you have bad phone service....or the ringer is turned off....
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Yep, that's the same Taryn Brill. Apparently she now goes by Taryn Winter Brill and she's an anchor and morning show host on a Sacramento TV station. Here's a better photo:

There are many other photos and videos of Taryn on the internets.

I've probably mentioned this before, but when I was on the show I tried to strike up a conversation with her by mentioning that I was walking down Broadway that morning and happened to see that I was passing the famous Brill Building. I thought that might pique her interest, but she didn't know what I was talking about and had never heard of the Brill Building.

I get the impression that she would't have gone far in the HS herself, despite having a Master's degree.
