I expect that Question 1 had the word "backwards" somewhere. I'd fix it myself, but the first part of the show got preempted in Los Angeles, so I don't have the exact wording available to me. --Bob

It was in the level, but I don't know if that counts:

Question #1 - Level 3: Going Backwards
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller

The usual cream puff "celebrity" set of questions it would seem. Not often on the current show that I can get them all without any help.

I doubt it. As transcribed, the question itself is simply mistaken. I have high confidence this is simply a transcription typo, but I can't fix it because I don't know precisely where it occurred. --Bob

Paige knowing the $100,000 question from the clue was a pretty cool moment. I wish Meredith had asked her at some point how she came about knowing that.

I don't recall where I heard it, but it's a pretty infamous example of petty cost saving moves. A Google search of "American Airlines" olive $40,000 returns over 2 million hits!

The decision was reportedly made in 1987 and affected only the salads served in first class. Coach passengers probably didn't get any olives to begin with! :P

The song went viral when it was first released, back before the "viral" meme (or the term "meme") gained currency. I remember it being featured during the halftime show of one of the New Year's Day bowl games. Here are the relevant verses.

I didn't want to turn this thread into a political discussion but...I've studiously avoided this song since the first time I heard it because it seemed like a lot of jingoistic nonsense as a result of 9/11.

It had a resurgence of popularity after 9/11, but this song was originally released in 1984.
