Wedding Blog: BD**2 - 166

#1 Post by gsabc » Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:18 am

BD will be heading to CA in a couple of weeks, if she can get the time off. I'll make the plane reservation when I hear from her. Once again, the last-minute planning hurts with airfares. It doesn't help that the flight is into Vegas. Last-minute deals are hard to come by for a popular spot like that in the winter. Fort Irwin is exactly halfway between Vegas and LA. I guess it's easier to drive to Vegas, or else they're planning to stay there for FSIL's long weekend. At this point, I'm only assuming that FSIL is picking up the rest of the tab. Maybe they can emulate the local college student who recently played the penny slots at a nearby tribal casino and hit the jackpot for 3.5 mill. Though if they stay in LV, I suspect they won't be seeing that much of the casinos. Probably true of outdoors no matter where they're staying. Dad isn't that naive, and can still recall his own pre-wedding separation time.

Meanwhile, we are all literally both sick and tired. GW is pissed at me because I got up at my regular time. I apparently missed or forgot that she had asked me to forgo exercising today so we, and especially she, could get some extra sleep. I'm afraid I need to ask if I've been waking her up all this time with the morning workout. The elliptical is across the stairway from the bedroom, but the beeps it makes are loud and still audible even through walls and closed doors. How hard would it have been for NordicTrack to have put a volume control on the thing? The sound of its whirring also transmits through the floor. If I've gotta switch back to evenings, it'll cut a good 45 minutes from the time I have to do regular household chores at night, and we'll compete for time on the machine again. Those were the reasons for the AM exercise in the first place. So be it. Whatever keeps the peace in the household. It's part of the job description.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Umm, why are you making the reservation?

So she can get the lowest fare still available. She has no web access at work. If I'm remembering correctly the price she mentioned last night, it has already gone up. And I still haven't heard from her. She probably has to wait for her PTB to give her the official word on the time off.

I can't believe I am a woman saying this to a man.

Here goes:

There is a line betwwen being generous and being taken advantage of.

There is a line between being accommodating and being a door mat.

There is a line between taking care of people and being taken for granted.

You might want to look at which side of the line you are on.

My dad never made airplane reservations for me so that I could "visit" with Jeff before we got married.

I'm all for extra sleep, believe me. But you might point out to GW that being wakened by the sound of hubby exercising is vastly preferable to being wakend by the sound of said husband expiring from a heart attack. I'm just sayin...

How about figuring out where the sound comes from (must have some type of opening - grid type thingie) which you can muffle. Did you go to the website to see if there is a FAQ? Maybe the beep can be disabled.

It is only the second part of these statements, as with sexual harassment, if you feel it is. I don't happen to feel that way.

And psm, I'm definitely recalling my own separation from GW for nine months prior to our wedding. If I'd been able to, I'd have been traveling to see her in the same fashion. I barely had enough vacation time at the new job as it was to take time off for the wedding itself.

There ya go...

fwh woke me up this am cause he had a headache. I told him, "What if I woke you up every morning at 3:30 am when I first awake and look at the clock?"

His retort..."As long as you are neked!"

I am glad you looked down to see which side of the line you are on.

That is what really matters.

Jeff and I went to different colleges. He was at Berkeley and I was at CSULB. About once every four to six weeks, we met halfway in Buttonwillow, CA at the Motel Sex (as we called it). I understand the need to be together. [This is where you can pretend to be shocked that I wasn't a virgin when I got married.]

I moved out of the house when I was 19 and was supporting myself through college. (I had my own apartment.) I never told my parents about these trips because they would have strongly disapproved.
