It must be "Teacher Week".

Arizonan Joanna Walker enters the Hot Seat on Monday.

What was it like getting the call and hearing they wanted you to go to New York?

I was substitute teaching the day I got a call from this strange area code. I checked my voicemail, and I started freaking out. I didn't really know what to do. I couldn't call them because class was about to start and there are very strict rules about when you have to call them back. Over lunch, I ran out to my car trying to call them. It was exciting.
And English teacher Andrew Stacy, from Tennessee, does so on Tuesday.

As is common with game shows taped before they are aired, he cannot reveal the outcome to anyone except his wife, Laura. Even his own mother will have to wait until the show airs at 2 p.m. Tuesday on WMC-TV Channel 5.

"She said, 'I'm your mother. You know I won't tell anyone.' I said, 'You raised me to be a man of my word.' "

His wife isn't telling anyone either: "I'm just proud of him. He's a good guy."

His students have been the sneakiest about trying to find out how much he won:

"On a rank from one to a million, how was your week?" student Luke Short, 16, says he asked Stacy when he returned.
Andrew is one of those lucky enough to be pulled from the pool after treading water for over a year.
A trivia buff, Stacy will say that he auditioned for the show about a year and a half ago while still living in Nashville. And last August, after he forgot about it, a show representative left him a voice mail asking if he could be in New York City in October

I like having teachers to root for. OTOH, they're not the risk takers you need to be in order to get to the million because of their generally low salaries. I'll be happy if they get anything over the $25K milestone. $50K would double even a 20 year veteran teacher's income, in many areas.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I'm with you when it comes to rooting for teachers, and I agree with your assessment about being risk-takers.
