Jury Duty Report
Went in, sat through the boring orientation, went down to the dungeon to await whatever. The group was maybe only half the size of the first time I got called in 8 years ago. They came in almost right away and called 13 names to report to one courtroom, I was not among them. About an hour later, all of us who were left were told we were to report to the criminal court building several blocks away bright and early at 8:30 AM tomorrow, and from the sound of it, we weren't being sent there to just sit in a dungeon... so maybe I'll at least make it to selection this time....
And we were promptly dismissed for the day, so I won't lose out on my sleep today! (Which is nice since I worked my ass off last night) The bonus of going back tomorrow cinches my four day weekend, although I think my prospects of being freed before my normal weekend starts on Wednesday are looking dim at this point. We shall see.....

Re: Jury Duty Report
I hope the case you get is a serial mailbox burgerler who has been caught with other peoples stuff which will then be returned to the rightful owners.

There are 6 left in the box! I'm sure they would taste better if I ever got to them before Big Boss Cat licked all the gravy off both servings. Mom just opened a new case of the 9 Lives sliced/shredded so there are 23 cans of that.Biskit wrote:Shadow wrote:But he's worth it!littlebeast13 wrote:

If they ever get another hamster I will share it with you!
(I've been spending more time out and about, so mom notices my toenails clicking on the tile more frequently. I should hide from her better!)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Re: Jury Duty Report
As expected, I finally made it into a courtroom today. We got introduced to the process by the judge, saw the principles in the trial (A certain Mr. Ford was being charged with armed robbery at knifepoint), and half of us got to make our opening voir dire introductions before the judge let us take a 10 minute break....
That 10 minute break turned into about 45 minutes, so we knew something was up. In comes the judge with our release papers. Mr. Ford, it turns out, decided to plead guilty to the crime in exchange for a lesser sentence. We were free to go, and no longer needed until such a time as I should be called upon again..... YAY!!!!
And now to enjoy what is left of my paid four day weekend thanks to the kind folks in the Madison County court system....

Potentially insenitive comment...
Methinks Mr. Ford, who bore some resemblance to a certain Mr. Snoop Dogg, freaked upon noticing that the ENTIRE pool that his jury was to be formed from was white, and decided to plea then and there. Jurors are often most effective in the criminal justice system before they are ever even selected to be on a jury.....
