Can Having a Cat Lower Your Heart Attack Risk?

And new research suggests the benefits of cat ownership may even go beyond pain relief. According to the study, presented Thursday at the American Stroke Association meeting in New Orleans, cat owners may actually be less likely to die from heart attack, stroke or other types of cardiovascular disease.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

One of mine gives me respiratory problems. Mainly at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. He sits on my chest, purrs, and expects to be worshiped in return. He weighs 20 pounds.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I think that only happens if you eat to many of them.

It must be a side effect of them sucking out all of your breath when you are sleeping.

I been hanging out with the WRONG kittycats!
They cause heart attacks, not prevent them!
Tigger and Samantha usta play Indianapolis 500 up and down the hallway at 3 in the morning -- a person could have nightmares about being trampled by a herd of heffalumps!
Mork could raise the dead with infernal hooooooooooooooowling. What a voice! What a range! He coulda put Pavarotti outta business if he could carry a tune.
Clayton was MrToughGuy in his younger days, and you could hear the fights into the next block. Why is 3 a.m. the best time for noisy kittycat activity? MRRAAOW, FFT! FFT!
MissYetiGirl must be related to GSabc's 20-pound purring lump of fuzz -- she jumps up on the bed and tries to cuddle up, 3 a.m. again! I rouse myself and throw her in the garage or outside.
My next kittycat will be one of those sweetiepie calicos who never cause one second of trouble.

I erased the part about eating cats, as I was fearful it would insult some.
Shows what I know.

I'm insulted that you erased it. I'm always interested in feliphage trends. What did I miss?

I erased it before I hit post, so you just missed what was in my head, not what was in print.
Beedums used to say he liked cats - they were good eating - or something like that.
Beedums has the gout.
That is about all you missed.
Except that I do a bad Beedums impression.
Unless you ask wb, who for the longest time was convinced Beedums and I were one in the same.

feliphage
I acted like I knew what it meant, when I had no clue.
Not too much on the internet about it, although I did find this:
Any feliphage will tell you that if you eat the cat unskinned with its fur still attached you get the ultimate self-flossing meal.
