The difference is, you haven't been round as long as many of us, so you do not have a flavor for people yet.CarShark wrote:I concur.chad1m wrote:After seeing your previous posts dissing contestants and referring to them as "cast members," I was pretty sure you weren't being "sarcastic."tanstaafl2 wrote:I guess Sarcafont would be useful for some people after all...
If it were Marley, no sarcafont was needed - he means it straight out.

It would be odd if you did. You would use MBFFB to say it.littlebeast13 wrote:peacock2121 wrote:The difference is, you haven't been round as long as many of us, so you do not have a flavor for people yet.CarShark wrote:I concur.

I've sampled enough of both of them in their most recent posts and from scouring the older transcripts to know that they are too unrelentingly bitter for my tastes.peacock2121 wrote:The difference is, you haven't been round as long as many of us, so you do not have a flavor for people yet.

I like to think of it as realistic but bitter works for me!CarShark wrote:I've sampled enough of both of them in their most recent posts and from scouring the older transcripts to know that they are too unrelentingly bitter for my tastes.peacock2121 wrote:The difference is, you haven't been round as long as many of us, so you do not have a flavor for people yet.
Sarcasm is unquestionably rooted in ones overall opinion and mine is no different. I think it is great that those people who wanted to get on CindyBAM have been able to do so and I am happy for their success.
I have never auditioned for CindyBAM (even when it was nearby) and think it unlikely that I ever would. Don't even know if I could even pass the test but suspect I could at least some percentage of the time. Obviously I will never know for sure. Could I pass the "bubbly personality" test? No clue. But I suspect I could work up a good hook or two if I chose to try, even for an old MAWG like me.
Does CindyBAM completely disregard an auditioners background with trivia? Of course not. But is it far, far less relevant than it once was? Sure seems like it! Lets go ask a few WEWE's to be sure.
It was also suggested that TV shows (game shows in particular I suppose) have always used bubbly personalities as a litmus test for "casting" the show and making "good" TV, whatever the heck that is. But that of course is not true. There was this one brief period of time when the contestants of a miraculous sainted game show were given the opportunity to be on a game show where personality had absolutely zip, zero, nada, nothing to do with it. A knowledge of trivia (or a remarkably healthy dose of luck or covert assistance from someone who was interested in trivia) was the only criteria to get on the show. Wow, a trivia game show where the chief and largely only requirement was a love of trivia! You know that ain't gonna last! And yet we got a great entertaining AND popular show that had lots of people with great personalities. Imagine that.
And a lot of them still wander around on this bored! Were there some duds too? Sure, but no more than we get now and in fact I would argue far less than we get now. Your mileage may vary.
And have there been almost countless examples of people on CindyBAM who had little or no skill or even interest in trivia what so ever? For that matter more than few people who have had no personaltiy what so ever? Hmm, let's go back and look through the 100's of transcripts and see if it appears that way to you. I'll wait...

Sure seems like it to me, too! And to a lot of other people on this bored as well it would seem.
So as far as I am concerned there is clear precedent for taking the auditioning aspect out of the process all together and still manage to have a very entertaining show. In my own entirely less than humble, sarcastic and bitter opinion of course.
CindyBAM simply isn't the same animal PTBAM was. Early on it was a different species. Now it doesn't even seem to be in the same family, much less genus or species. And yes, as a result I am harshly critical of the current incarnation and make no apology for it. Do I feel that way about individuals here, or any where else for that matter, who still enjoy the joys of trivia and still want to get on the game, no matter that the game has changed? I should hope the answer by now is obvious.
<sarcafont>If not I shall somehow manage to survive another day knowing that some people find me too unrelentingly bitter for their tastes.</sarcafont>
And now if you will excuse me I am going to go have a drink with Bitter Beer Face...
