I don't understand Matt's reasoning. Castro was in power for so long that Cuba wouldn't feature anyone else on their currency? Doesn't he remember why Che turns up on all those posters and tee shirts?
But I'm glad that he pointed out what a ridiculous distractor Puerto Rico was!

This "promo" is dated Thursday, 15 September 2011 00:00, which seems a bit late to catch the Tuesday and Wednesday episodes.

Guess I better study up on currency. I was lucky on this one -- colones in Costa Rica, pesos in Mexico, and, as Matt points out, dollars in Puerto Rico. But they had one a while back about Thailand or someplace I'd never heard of.

You do realize this is BAM and that actual trivia knowledge by cast members is discouraged right?
As we have learned here over the years if you have an actual interest in trivia it is best to hide that fact and focus your efforts on developing a goofy hook and being bubbly in the interview so that you will appear that you can be cast member who will make "good TV"!

I'm curious on how we learned this? Nearly everyone I met in the green room seemed very interested in trivia for quite some time.

I informed them that I was a quiz bowl coach and I loved knowledge, using that as a base for my audition. They had also seen my previous experience with trivia-related television. If they didn't pick me based on that, there wasn't much more else they could pick me on. Considering there was another coach in the green room on my tape date, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that helped him too. I'm annoyed with people who take umbrage to contestants being "bubbly" and "goofy." It's
television. Interesting personalities have been a staple in television for as long as television has been around. I take offense to people who think I and others have made it onto a program like this on personality alone, especially as someone who has failed the test once and worked to pass the knowledge hurdle for the second test. I'm sorry if you haven't made it onto something you've wanted to do, but quit trying to lessen what others have done.

I seem to remember contestants in the recent past mentioning their trivia past, if for no other reason than because of earendel noting that they don't do particularly well. My frustration is probably more with how the questions are worded to maximize the doubt the contestants feel. I just wish that a contestant would just see past it and go with their gut more, rather than burn their lifelines. People are barely getting halfway through Round One.
I only got the question because of the mentioning of sugar cane, as I associate Guevara more with South America.

There is no deleted post from vettech showing up in the moderator log, however the message (399493) certainly does not exist. The log shows no deleted posts today at all, and tmitsss had a similar "phantom post" hanging on a thread this morning as well.... so I am wondering if the log does not update automatically, or something odd is going on again....
I'd like to hear from vettech on whether she did delete a post from this thread.....

I certainly didn't delete anything, and I note that searching in vettech's posts does not show a post in this thread. That's different from the behavior observed earlier, when vanished posts could still be accessed by searching the poster's posts. --Bob

I don't think so - I've been having access problems all day and had problems making posts, so maybe it's a post I attempted that never took..
