Dress advice
I'm looking for a nice cocktail dress to wear to the 150th anniversary dinner for the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. My spouse is on the Board of Directors and it is optional black tie. I don't want to wear a long dress. This is one possibility. Opinions welcome. Am I too old for this dress? Be honest...it won't hurt my feelings, really, it won't.

I think that is lovely and very tasteful. Absolutely love the color for you.
Perfect for black tie optional.
My only thing (for me) is the sleeveless part. I like a little sleeve of some type, even if it is a small cap.
But I think you will look stunning in this.
And won't you need to go shoe shopping?

That's very pretty, Kay. Unless your legs are about 10 inches longer than hers, making it a mini, you should be just the right age for it.

Not the best choice for you.
(you said be honest, right?)
It is a bit young - and not because of the sleeveless - it's the diagonal thing across the skirt.
I would put you in something fitted from the waist up, with some scoop in both the front and the back and then an A-Line from there (avoid the gathered waist thingie) - down to above you knee. You have a great upper body (show off your collar bones) and great legs. Have the dress show those things off. Even if you have to have the dress hemmed - do that - show those gams!

Good color, and I like the drapey thing from the hip down to below the knee.

I like honest answers, really I do. I agree, I like my legs. My arms....not so much. Anyway, this is the dress I really wanted (probably hemmed to just above the knee), but it's not available until 4/15...I need it by 2/29. There's really no where to shop here...and I don't have much time, leaving Thursday for a week...in Norman til Sunday and then in Louisville until Thursday and the dinner is Friday!peacock2121 wrote:Not the best choice for you.

Update...I have the first one and the last one on order...to be sent to my mother's house in Louisville, since that is where I will be come Monday.
I thought maybe I should order both in case one or the other looked horrible on me or just plain didn't fit. I may just keep both of them if they fit.
Thanks for all the input, it really was helpful.
