Princess Peanut has her first dance competition. She is one of the few in the dance company who has not performed in previous years. (Not a shock, since she is the youngest girl in company.)

She is dancing in the company's production number, as a high-wire acrobat, and in a group of 5-6 girls (all around ages 8-10 but her) doing a broadway number ("Don't Go Hollywodd On Us") She has a solo in the middle.

She is very excited.

The production number is the hard one for her. It is a "dark", Cirque du Soleil tupe number, mainly to a Christina Aguilera song. They are not supposed to smile. Sarah constantly smiles, especially everytime that she is on the stage.

It's hard to tell a little girl not to smile on stage. Samantha is a waver. During every little kids program at chruch she cranes her neck to find us and waves until we wave back. It's hysterical.

Watching dance recitals is one of my favorite things to do. My number two son decided to take dance (jazz and tap) in 6th grade to improve his basketball skills. Some of his buddies gave him crap, to which he responded,'keep talking, let's hear what you have to say when I juke you on the court.' To me, he said 'it's the chicks, mom'

Anyway, he had a great time, improved his 'juking' skills, and I was over the moon at having an excuse to attend recitals. The dance instructor talked him into taking to additional classes free of charge, simply because it's hard for them to get boys in dance.

My very favorite America's Funniest Home Videos is one of a little girl all decked out in pink tutu stuff. She's on stage and notices her grandpa is talking with someone sitting next to him and not paying enough attention to her. It's hysterical.

Best of luck to Princess Peanut. If you videotape it and we get to see it, I will be delighted.

The Florida State Fair had a brand new thing this year - dance competitions. They had both Swing and Salsa. I arranged to be there during the Swing competition.

There were 10 couples. 8 of them were from USF. When asked what had them get into Swing, one guy replied "It was the cute chicks."

I liked him best.

It is not PP's dance recital tomorrow. (Her recital is in early June, and she has like 6 dances for it.)

Tomorrow, it is a regional dance competition. If they score high enough, then they can get a recommendation for the national competition.

Looking at the line-up, there are 105 total dance routines from probably 15-20 dance companies.

She has 4-5 other dance competitions. There are a couple of national competitions in Branson that we would look at doing, if invited.

Also, I do not think that video is allowed. There is a company hired to do photos and videos, from which you can order.

Are we talking Big Band Swing or Western Swing? I like them both and was pretty good when I could still walk.
