No Lost Talk?
Doesn't anyone even want to speculate about the Oceanic 6?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

Well, we know that includes Jack, Kate and Hurley. No clue who the other three are. Did all the socks get convinced to stay with Locke or were they killed by the so-called rescuers? And who the heck rescues a bunch of people by parachuting onto the island?

Spoiler
I see they quickly worked Charlie back into the show now that Hurley sees dead people.
Looks like flash forwards may become more common than flash backs. Won't that be fun...
As to the fate of the socks and who the Oceanic 6 prove to be I expect that won't come until the bitter end. The obvious choices at this point are Jake, Kate and Hurley of course along with Sayid, Sawyer and somebody else. Can't see Locke coming back, at least not voluntarily. Juliet doesn't have a tie to the flight. Maybe Jin or Sun? Would think it would have to be amongst the leads. Claire?
I noted Harold Perrineau in the credits (but maybe that was for the preview show? Can't remember now) but Michael did not make an appearance and Walt grew so fast they had to essentially write him out. In his brief guest appearance in the finale last season he looked like he had grown 2 feet! In 3 months of "show time" that would be hard to explain even for a show like this. But not impossible...
I presume one of the 6 was in the coffin at the end of last season but will also likely remain a mystery to the end. My early speculation, not having read the Lost boards, includes Sawyer or maybe Michael. But that would mean Michael would have to make a return somehow. Maybe the people on the "freighter" picked him up and that is how they found the island in the first place.

I think we will probably see the entire six by the end of the 8 filmed episodes. As for the 6th, my money is on Sun, to get her away from the Island's anti-baby bias.
The actor who played Randy was also in the credits (manager of Mr. Cluck's, Locke's boss), but I don't remember seeing him. If anything, they showed more of the main cast than usual. Last season, it was like they forgot the beach, at first.
As for Walt, maybe he is using the years that the Other named Richard didn't use for aging. With, albeit selective, rapid healing, there may also be rapid growth.
It was good to see the return of Big Mike (A-L's ex-partner in LAPD)

Why did 'dead' Charlie call Hurley Hugo? Never did on the island.
Naomi sure had a lot of spunk left for someone with 90 seconds to live. ali McGraw syndrome after the knife wound?
Where did the piece of fuselage they were at in the Jungle come from? Tail- crashed in ocean. Middle- swept out to sea. Nose- tiltes at a significant angle, upward to cockpit. This section- flat on jungle floor.
What did the lettering say on the back wall of the interrogation room?
Did swimming Charlie (Hurley's police hallucination) have something written on his hand?
Who was the eyeball in Jacob's cabin?
How did Hurley know the exact spot where the beach dropped off suddenly?
Will Danielle elbow Ben in the face in each episode until the end of the series?
What is Rose's beef with Locke?
Who does ?Abbedon? really work for? - Hurley's visitor
Why didn't Kate follow Sawyer?
Did we see our 1st gay couple (one guy taking the hand of another behind Rose & Bernard when the Losties split into two)?
Why did Hurley draw a picture of an Inuit?
What about Naomi - wait, we know about her. Nevermind.

Oh, sure, you say that now -- but what if a really cool doorstop turns up in the underground bunker?
Those evil bastidges...

Oh wait, the writers are still on strike, aren't they? So it won't happen til at least next season, if at all. Now, if it should by chance show up on Big Brother, There Will Be Blood!

I was still expecting her to get up and walk away. Wounds seem to heal fast on the island so it could have been a mere flesh wound...
Where did the piece of fuselage they were at in the Jungle come from? Tail- crashed in ocean. Middle- swept out to sea. Nose- tiltes at a significant angle, upward to cockpit. This section- flat on jungle floor.
As I recall the nose section came crashing down at some point early on after the monster (who also remains unexplained and absent of late...) attacked Charlie, Jack and Kate way back when three months ago.

Perhaps a foretelling of a character to come on the island. My guess anyway. Looked a bit like the Haitian on Heroes...

Did we see our 1st gay couple (one guy taking the hand of another behind Rose & Bernard when the Losties split into two)?
Could be. Damn, another reason to recheck the Tivo
Why did Hurley draw a picture of an Inuit?
Maybe related to the two foreign guys working for Penny in the frozen place last season who noted the magnetic anomaly. Kinda thought that was antarctic but could have been arctic. Or maybe he was dreaming of polar bears. One thing is for sure. You can never completely discount little easter eggs like that on this show.
What about Naomi - wait, we know about her. Nevermind.
I never do.

Who is Jacob? A shocker here, Lost fans:
BIG TIME SPOILER:
And who is in the casket?
Could be Locke. Could be Sawyer. Could be Ben. Could be Juliet. Could be Michael or Walt. Doesn't necessarily have to be one of the Oceanic Six. Don't think its Juliet, as you'd think her sister would've been there. But any of the others?

Who is Jacob? A shocker here, Lost fans:
BIG TIME SPOILER:
Spoiler
OK, when Hurley comes upon Jacob's cabin, there's a couple of quick shots of a guy sitting in what we know from a past episode was "Jacob's" chair. Screen shots reveal that the guy sitting there, the one Hurley gets a glimpse of, is..
Christian Shepard. Jack's supposedly deceased father.
Don't know how he could be Jacob, doesn't make sense, but there you go. It's definitely Christian. Also, in both IMDB and in the opening credits, the actor who ploays Christian is listed.

Spoiler
I'm leaning toward Michael. The funeral home is in an area that seems predominantly African-American. Screen shots of the obit show that the deceased had a teenaged son. We don't know what kind of time tricks they're playing here..could Walt be the one Kate said she had to get back to in the season ender last year? Or does someone not so nice have Walt?
I'm thinking that there are some resurrection issues regarding the island..so many dead folks seem to appear on that island. The secret that Hurley and Jack speak of..when Hurley says to Jack "you came here to see if I told anyone"..Abbadon asking Hurley "are they still alive?" or something to that effect..Hurley saying "we have to go back" while Jack says never...only to be singing the same tune as Hurley in HIS own flash-forward which is obviously somewhere down the timeline from Hurley's..My guess is that the 6 (and Kate may or may NOT be part of the 6..she IS a fugitive, after all..why would she be part of the well-publicized Oceanic 6) made some sort of "keep our mouths shut" deal..perhaps the person Kate "has to get back to" is someone who is keeping her free of the law's reach but at a tremendous price...and that the rest of the Losties were declared dead but are in fact alive on that island and being "experimented" on by the folks who were there to "rescue" them. The "commercial" for Oceanic Airlines during Eli Stone showed quick shots of what looked like underwater plane wreckage and a voice saying "they're lying..we found it" or something to that effect. Naomi mentioned in an earlier episode that the plane had been found in the ocean and that all of the bodies had been recovered. Are our Losties actually dead yet alive on the island only, with the Six somehow "alive" (but knowing that they don't belong in the real world anymore..for that matter, does that have something to do with Charlie's appearance to Hurley?)...or is the wreckage part of an elaborate ruse to keep people from searching for the survivors and stumbling upon this miraculous island? Do Jack and Hurley want to go back to free their fellow survivors..or do they need to be back where they belong, as in the land of the dead?
This show will drive me crazy.

Eye color seems wrong for Charlie. The eye appeared to be hazel/green. Dominic/Charlie has blue grey eyes. I was thinking it might be the one eyed guy, Mikhail. Of course the concussion of the grenade blast underwater should have killed him. But then again he has seemed dead before. He is clearly in tune with the island in some fashion.

Who is Jacob? A shocker here, Lost fans:
BIG TIME SPOILER:

OK, when Hurley comes upon Jacob's cabin, there's a couple of quick shots of a guy sitting in what we know from a past episode was "Jacob's" chair. Screen shots reveal that the guy sitting there, the one Hurley gets a glimpse of, is..
Christian Shepard. Jack's supposedly deceased father.
Might be. But no way to tell for sure on what I saw. Screen captures must be a lot lighter.
Don't know how he could be Jacob, doesn't make sense, but there you go. It's definitely Christian. Also, in both IMDB and in the opening credits, the actor who ploays Christian is listed.

I haven't watched Lost since the first season. It was quite considerate of them to run thru everything that happened in all those episodes I skipped in one show before the season premier. If they will do that every year, I might keep up with it that way.

Did you watch War of the Worlds last night? I know Tom Cruise is a nutcase and all but he's a pretty good actor. The movie creeped me out.
Anyway, Lost had a couple of commercials that had the narrator do a whirlwind runthrough of everything that's happened. It was very funny. And informative.

I forgot that Gene Barry had a cameo at the end.

Before last nights episode I was generally really confused about what was going on. Which is OK as I have been that way largely since the series began.
But now, after this last episode I am finally...

really, REALLY confused!
Lets just add a handful of new characters out of nowhere, throw in some moderately incoherent flashbacks, and then toss 'em into the mix on the island, all without answering any of the previous questions. Polar bears with Dharma tags in North Africa, yeah that makes sense...
Ben and company must have a ton of money to secretly buy a plane, paint it in Oceanic livery, and then have it secretly dumped in the Indian Ocean, complete with a convenient dead body or two.
And all to throw the scent off him and the location of the island?
And while we have no idea where the island is located (if indeed it is "located" anywhere in the traditional sense) the plane crash isn't anywhere close to where it might be flying from Sydney to LA, even if it did go off course for several hours.
Will be curious to see them explain that one.
If they ever do.
Would be about the first thing they had explained so I won't hold my breath.
At least the smoke monster, albeit by proxy, made another appearance when Locke asked Ben about it. Not that he was very helpful.
But since Abbadon made an appearance in the flashback apparently he isn't the smoke monster incarnate, although obviously he appears to be another "evil doer" in the story line.

I totally agreed about that unlikely crash site.
At least, if the new cast members are mysterious, it was amusing seeing that Corporal Upham was still feeling nervous and out of place, even all these years after saving Private Ryan.
That reference didn't satisfy me. Until they explain that someone is controlling the smoke monster, I expect it to be crashing through the jungle eating people, just like it did on the first nights.tanstaafl2 wrote: At least the smoke monster, albeit by proxy, made another appearance when Locke asked Ben about it. At first I thought that the 4 "rescuers" were Dharma people, there to exact revenge on Ben. Now, however.......
Well, they may have been SENT by TPTB of Dharma, but at least one of them, the pilot, has got to be a patsy. I say this because, if we assume (and with this show, assuming is asking for trouble, I know) that Dharma is responsible for staging the "discovery" of a fake Flight 815 in order to stop the search for the real one, then the pilot can't be a Dharma hotshot, as we see him call in information that the dead pilot being shown is NOT the right guy, since he is not wearing a wedding ring. If he is an important Dharma dude he'd KNOW it was a staged discovery already. Methinks he is chosen for this mission to keep his mouth shut, meaning he will probably not live too long after fulfilling this mission. We have a physicist (Daniel Farraday..the last name is interesting.. )

Sounds like what was surrounding the hatch
We have an apparent ghost whisperer, whose talents may come in handy on this island (they've already cleared Jack & Kate of Naomi's murder), and we have Charlotte Staples Lewis (a nod to C.S. Lewis, creator of the ALTERNATE REALITY of Narnia).
We're told they were chosen for specific reasons. Revenge on Ben may be part of it (for wiping out the original Dharma crew), but the "talents" of these people (at least three of them, anyway) indicate that they're not just hitmen.
The polar bear thing is mind-boggling. In the end, there may be some sort of time travel/temporal displacement/alternate reality thing going on. Back on the Narnia angle, keep in mind that 20 minutes in our time translates to years in Narnia. I'm guessing there may be something there to ponder in relation to Lost.
One interesting thing making the rounds:
When Miles heads up the stairs to talk to the ghost, there are a number of pictures on the wall by the staircase, including one of a young African-American boy in closeup. After he does his thing and comes back down the stairs, ALL OF THE PICTURES ARE DIFFERENT except the one of the boy, but the FRAME on that picture is different. Either it's a MAJOR goof in continuity, or there's some reality shifting going on of some sort.
This show sparks paranoia like no other! Every little detail is examined to death. Unbelievable.

I would assume this is an approximation of "maelstrom," which is, according to the American Heritage Dictionary:takinover wrote:When Ben was under gunpoint by Locke, he mentioned all of their full names and said Miles Strom.TheCalvinator24 wrote:I imagine that Miles' last name will be quite significant since they made sure we didn't hear it yet.
