"I've Been Everywhere" Rules/Topics/Score Totals Thread
Rules and guidelines kept from Test Week
-Each game will be open for at least 24 hours. The first one will be open until Wednesday 2/16 since I'm running behind and may not post the first one until late Monday maybe even early Tuesday.
-No googling, "Uniplatinum" (looking at other responses before answering) etc.
-Spoilerize all responses before the day's game is closed
-Everything will be USA or Canada (mostly USA)
-I will be looking for city/location and state/province in most cases, responses of just city accepted if it is clear in the city or context
-Some might request a state or province only, e.g. a welcome sign or ad with the town name.
New, adapted per test week results.
Wrong guesses will no longer bump up the scores. I declare DC a "state" for this game although I do not have the power to give them a vote in the House.
Scoring
10- If only one gets it right
5- If 2-5 get it right
3- If 6-10 get it right
2- If 11+ get it right
1- If I ask a specific location and only the state or province is correct (+2 bonus if no one got the specific location)
+2- Outshine Bonus- When only one or two nail a specific town when I accept a metro area. Example, I accepted Denver for the Buffalo Bill grave sign, but say one or two nail Golden, CO, then this bonus will apply.
+1- I shamelessly stole the idea of JJC points and will continue with this. If not right then be funny. Especially on any real killers that I put up either deliberately or by underestimating their difficulty.
+1- If absolutely no one even gets the state/province, everyone who plays gets at least 1
I have about 30 photos of material right now and am going through and choosing the first ten or so. I will then post a little more info.

Re: "I've Been Everywhere" Rules/Topics/Score Totals Thread
I am sorting photos for diversity (geographic and difficulty level). I am suddenly reminded of a Michael Davies interview from the waning days of PT-BAM, when he was trying to explain the switch from the phone game to mostly auditions. He pointed out under-represented geographical areas, and ironically one of those areas was what we know as "Where Else"? Partly because those far from NYC were also looking at the free trip, even if they do not get out of the ROF.
So I found instead of mostly "Where Else," as I feared, I had none at all. I made up for this, though not to the crazy level that SyndiBAM did.

IIRC, the WABC viewing area comprises about 6% of the nation. I find it hard to believe that the Phone Game was under-representing that figure.Snaxx wrote:I am sorting photos for diversity (geographic and difficulty level). And so what if folks from Where Else weren't motivated by the tempation of a free trip? Weren't any of them interesting in that being a millionaire angle?

... and I was targeting about 10% of my material being "Where else?" Looks like I was slightly biased too. 6% sounds right; that would be 18 million out of 300 million people.MarleysGh0st wrote: IIRC, the WABC viewing area comprises about 6% of the nation. Add Wikipedia entry - 19 million people in NY metro area out of about 309 million total

Re: "I've Been Everywhere" Rules/Topics/Score Totals Thread
In the spirit of the new, improved, "game-changing" WWTBAM format I present the (ummm...) helpful First Ten topic list.
No Mecca In the Outfield
Toto, We're Not in Arkansas
Seeing Stars
The Quilt Shop
Not a Cloud in the Sky
Take Two, Then Call Me in the Morning
Big City Skyline
C'mon, Ride the Train
I Do Not Owe You 14068658760002 JJC Points!
No Exit
These will be randomized later today, so the first one that comes up might be the toughest of the batch, or it might be the easiest...
