the movies you watch determine your character

#1 Post by earendel » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:36 pm

There's a Web site:

http://www.cinescopes.com

that will tell you what kind of person you are based on an analysis of your top 10 movies. It's all for the purpose of selling a book entitled "Cinescopes", but aside from having to enter your name and e-mail address (these can be faked) it's free. Just enter your ten favorite movies in any order and click the "Analyze Me" button.

According to this analysis I am...

the Chosen Adventurer

Chosen Adventurers are open-minded individuals who seek to know as much about the world as possible, whether by traveling or simply trying new things daily. Thriving on mental and physical challenges, they're at their best when faced with a seemingly impossible obstacle. Chosen Adventurers love movies about heroes who are plucked out of their ordinary existence to go on an epic quest that will ultimately save the world.

I am:

You are the Passionate Maverick

Passionate Mavericks don't follow the trends; they set them. Drawn to tattoos, motorcycles and all things rebellious, they are also socially conscious and take on the world's problems as their own. On a social level, they are loners by nature; friends often have to beg them to come out and play. Passionate Mavericks love movies about heroes who rage against the machine in the name of the meek and voiceless.

Interesting. I would have never said that about myself. Of course, I might have a completely different list of 10 movies the next time I tried this.
No matter where you go, there you are.

You are the Loyal Warrior

Loyal Warriors are never as happy as when they are in the company of loved ones. Strong, loving and secure individuals, they care deeply for friends and family and aren't afraid to show it. Their value of teamwork and dedication make them fantastic leaders in casual and serious situations. They're social chameleons and can adapt easily to any place they find themselves. Loyal Warriors love movies about heroes who battle within a unit and ultimately, lead their team through struggle to great success.

This career in the Army must have influenced me: Loyal Warrior

(I wonder how many of my movies matched Cal's movies.)

You are the Determined Survivor

Life can be a bitch, and the Determined Survivors know it. Having weathered terrible circumstances, they now possess great emotional strength. In the craziest situations, they remain calm and collected, and can serve as a grounding rod for those close to them. Has the fire alarm sounded? Follow the Survivor to the nearest exit! Determined Survivors love movies about heroes who must overcome personal tragedy and oppression by channeling great inner strength.

It's probably because I had Pride and Prejudice, The Terminator and Tie Me Up Tie Me Down on the same list.

I am also the Determined Survivor, but I don't know how they got that from Field of Dreams and 1776.

I did just watch "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" last night, and it made me want to be a good person.

Vivacious Romantic

Quirky and flirtatious, Vivacious Romantics are in love with the idea of love. It's natural for them to find romance and beauty in everything around them; whether that's a sunset or a puppy. Their sensitivity and compassion for others is inspirational to friends and family. And their quick wit doesn't hurt them, either. Vivacious Romantics enjoy movies about heroes who enjoy playing the game of love.

You are the Charismatic Performer

All the world's a stage... no one knows this better than Charismatic Performers. Artistic and talented, they are great improvisers in all situations. With their wit and knowledge, they can charm the pants off anyone. They are also highly perceptive, picking up social cues and using this to their advantage. Charismatic Performers love movies about heroes who struggle for their art and reveal their true colors when the curtain falls.

Huh? Guess they've never had to sit through one of my sermons.

You are the Destined Hunter

Tough, gritty and daring, Destined Hunters look trouble straight in the eye with a gaze that says, "Don't mess with me." Adversity is a cakewalk for them, and as a result, people feel safe around them. Physical adventures are a necessity, whether it's outdoors or in the bedroom. Dedicated to all endeavors, they reach their goals at a high percentage. Destined Hunters love movies about heroes who must battle pure evil and eradicate it from the face of the earth.

Invincible Optimist

Happy-go-lucky and full of great stories, Invincible Optimists can make anyone keel over with laughter. With the power of positive thinking and their upbeat attitude, they're unsinkable even in tough times. If something bad happens to a friend, they're the best at providing words of encouragement. Broken leg? It's an excuse not to work hard. Invincible Optimists love movies about heroes who march over their adversaries with their comic brilliance and affirmative energy.

Fits me pretty well. I guess that's what you get when you put Gladiator and Pollyana on the same list. Yeah, that Maximus. He was quite the card.

Actually, that's also what you get when you put a bunch of teen hormone movies in the list (did it for kicks, to see what came out!)

You are the Respected Champion

Popular, lovable and driven to succeed, Respected Champions have big ambitions and a winning attitude. They're at their best when reaching out to shy people, making everyone feel included; they will make friends with anyone, young or old, cool or not. Their strict moral code is of great importance to them, as is their strong sense of self. Respected Champions love movies about heroic underdogs who battle loud mouthed bullies and come out on top.

You are the Dedicated Idealist

Nobody understands the importance of hard work and the power of dreams better than Dedicated Idealists. Enterprising and ambitious, they set career oriented goals for themselves and reach them every time. With a close-knit group of friends and tight family, they have the support they need to reach for the top of the ladder. Dedicated Idealists love movies about heroes who climb the corporate ladder while sticking to their integrity, to ultimately take down the man in charge.

It's a random generator. It picks out one movie and gives you the profile for that.

Must have been the Atlas Shrugged entry...

Oh wait, that one was just announced as being back in development after several past failed tries to make it into either a movie or a mini series.

Can't see how they could do any justice to it in a Hollyweird typical 97 minute movie. Not that there is usually any consideration of doing any book justice, especially these days with very rare exceptions.

Might even be tough to do it in a 6 hour mini series.
