There's a chance I may get this weekend's game closed and possibly even scored today, although if I don't get it done in the next hour and a half, it will probably have to wait. I honestly don't anticipate getting the standings caught up on until Wednesday though. I'll also try to get the halfway mark announcement I was going to make posted as well today, but if not, that will also have to be put on hold. Please bear with me as I try to get back into the swing of things.....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 1 point for each missing famous person.....

Spoiler
1. You take the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than _(Day)_ (or so I thought, these lyrics look familiar, but no celeb in mind. My rhyming guess would be Billie Holiday)
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

2. And we got rural scenes and magazines
And we got truckers on CB
We got ________ on the video

3. That`s great, it starts
With an earthquake
Birds and snakes, an aeroplane
(Lenny Bruce) is not afraid
ITS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT - R.E.M.
(This was a question on primetime WWTBAM and I recall the contestant looking at the LB names for a while and finally giving up and walking with the $$
I think he was asked for the artist which I knew at the time)

4. Dressed up like a million dollar trooper,
Trying hard to look like _(Gary Cooper)_
Super-duper!
Puttin' On the Ritz - Taco

5. On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like _______
Contemplating a crime

6. Her parents threw big parties
Everyone was there
They hung out with folks like
________, ________, and _______ & ________

7. LA told me, You'll be a pop star,
All you have to change is everything you are.
Tired of being compared to damn _(Britney Spears)_
She`s so pretty, that just ain`t me
I'm sure this was a song by P!NK "Don't let me get me"

8. You like to drive like ________ (David Letterman would make sense here...)
I like it taking my time
But let me say wherever you are going
You know it suits me just fine

9. Suck it in, suck it in, suck it in
If you're Rin Tin Tin or ________ (drawing a blank on the celeb name so this baseball fan will plug in Early Wynn to get a rhyme)
Make a desperate move or else you'll win
And then begin to see
What you're doing to me this MTV is not for free
It's so PC it's killing me
- I think this was "HOOK" by BLUES TRAVELER (then again it could be Run-Around but "HOOK" would be fitting for me)

10. Oh-oo-oh, you think you`re special
Oh-oo-oh, you think you`re something else
Okay, so you`re _(Brad Pitt?)_
THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH by SHANIA TWAIN (the celeb name a ? it was some stud like him)

11. In a hand painted night, me and Gypsy Scotty are partners
At the Hotel Flamingo, wearing black market shoes
This loud Cuban band is crucifying _______ (Fidel Castro?? Probable blatant humor bid. Hey they could have just fed him and exploding cigar.)
No one wants to be lonely, no one wants to sing the blues

12. Shush girl, shut your lips
Do the _(Hellen Keller)_ and talk with your hips (couldn't forget this since SSS gave me that answer some time ago)

"DON'T TRUST ME" by 3 OH 3.

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that mentions someone famous in the lyrics (not the TITLE), and mention the famous person mentioned.
Rockstar by Nickelback, I recall they mention wanting a Hollywood star between Cher and James Dean.

5 Point Bonus: What do I have in common with the four famous people mentioned in Song #3? They are all "LB" as in Leonid Brezhnev (sp?) and Leonard Bernstein.

I'm not just a dumbass, I am a Grand Ultimate Dumbass Supreme with a big shiny trophy and a paper plate with a fan of Georges....
Spoiler
I don't know what possessed me to go back and read my answers yet a THIRD time, but I finally noticed that I fucked up Don't Trust Me as well. Dammit, I knew that song before it was even released because it obviously got mad airplay around here! I kept messing up and putting my celebrity name before the titles and had to go back and change a bunch of them in proof, but I apparently got tired before I got that far. Oh well. As somebody once said, never trust a ho.......

Who's gonna Fill Their Shoes - George Jones (Elvis is mentioned, among many others)

This song came to mind after reading my Old and Crotchety thread. Not only did I not recognize many of the new groups mentioned, I had NO idea whose shoes they might be filling.

That Sunday puzzle may well be one of the all-time greats. Not only were the twelve "rebus" squares that represented the signs of the Chinese zodiac placed around the perimeter in absolutely perfect symmetry, but they were also in correct order. And it's not unusual for a relatively high number of sub-standard clue answers to appear in puzzles of this intricacy, but the fill here didn't suffer one bit for the sake of the theme. Really an amazing piece of construction.

Hey! I can't be penalized for something that the meister didn't even notice! I demand my point!

I also demand the point I would have gotten had you realized that LA is a person and left that blank.

Dammit.
