All of you number haters out there will be glad to know we aren't going there for today's Fill in the Blank Monday. This game features songs that mention famous people in the lyrics. I recall vandal once did an LS game around this theme, but he gave you the lines with the celebs. No such luck this time.... you have to come up with them yourselves....

There's a chance I may get this weekend's game closed and possibly even scored today, although if I don't get it done in the next hour and a half, it will probably have to wait. I honestly don't anticipate getting the standings caught up on until Wednesday though. I'll also try to get the halfway mark announcement I was going to make posted as well today, but if not, that will also have to be put on hold. The Year of the Cat - Al Stewart - Peter Lorre (The Sunday NYT crossword (Or at least the on my paper ran this weekend) dealt with the Chinese zodiac, and was one of the more clever puzzles I have seen from them, even if I did come about 25 blanks short of correctly completing it....)

That Sunday puzzle may well be one of the all-time greats. Not only were the twelve "rebus" squares that represented the signs of the Chinese zodiac placed around the perimeter in absolutely perfect symmetry, but they were also in correct order. And it's not unusual for a relatively high number of sub-standard clue answers to appear in puzzles of this intricacy, but the fill here didn't suffer one bit for the sake of the theme.
