Hmmm. I was stumped by the "help promote his business" part of the clue. How would any of these help increase the business of an auto parts store? (A full service gas station made the most sense to me, in that light.)

Well. I don't know what sources the question writers used for that, but the reasoning could be open to challenge. For instance, here's one contradictory source.

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-cult ... ve-in.html
He first conceived the drive-in as the answer to a problem. "His mother was—how shall I say it?—rather large for indoor theater seats," said Jim Kopp of the United Drive-in Theatre Owners Association. "So he stuck her in a car and put a 1928 projector on the hood of the car, and tied two sheets to trees in his yard."

I wonder how many contestants lately have used a lifeline on the first question.

The dad reminded me of Cedric the Entertainer. I'm surprised that didn't get mentioned.

No idea - I'll JTQ. Anyone know why this is?

I'd JTQ also. The right answer would have been the one I would have thought least likely. I don't see how it promotes the business.

B: North Korea
It doesn't look Arabic, and "kiri" is often the ending of an Oriental word. Still, I might just ATA to see what happens - if the right answer gets enough votes, I'd go with my hunch.
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."
