This seems to be a ridiculously obscure trivia question. I live just 60 miles away from UVa, and I have family members who've attended UVa and other public colleges in Virginia, but I have no recollection of any list that prohibited any of these items. You could sort of guess at the answer-- hair dryers and alarm clocks are almost essential for some people, and there is no reason to ban either of them, while halogen lamps actually present a potential safety (fire hazard), more so than microwaves, and if I had had to guess, I would have gone with the lamps. But even that is not foolproof-- I went to the University of Pennsylvania, and when I was there (early 1970's) we were told not to bring any kind of cooking devices (which would now include microwaves, although they were not common then) because the wiring system in the dorms could not handle the load. UVa has some very old dorms (the rooms on The Lawn, where the academic elite are deposited, do not have bath facilities-- they students have to leave the building in order to take a dump or brush their teeth) and I suspect that in those areas they might be concerned about electrical things like microwaves; freshman do not get to live in those rooms, but still.

This just seems bogus to me.

Ask a member of the asked audience, I missed this question. I second guessed myself and went with Chicago Fire. The guy sitting next to me guessed correctly.

Something to notice about these shows (Friday and Monday). The audience was very into clapping for a correct answer early. We were warned a couple of times, but still they went on, clapping as soon as a contestant seemed sure about his or her answer. (I was a good boy and never clapped until the correct answer was revealed.)
