Former agriculture secretary under Nixon and Ford who had to resign after a series of offensive remarks (i.e.: something tight, something loose, and something warm).
He passed away on Saturday at age 98.

That ends one of my "six degrees of separation" to famous people. My dad knew Earl Butz slightly from his days at Purdue. He was a quick route to lots of politicians and celebrities..NellyLunatic1980 wrote:Former agriculture secretary under Nixon and Ford who had to resign after a series of offensive remarks (i.e.: something tight, something loose, and something warm).

Me--> my Dad --> Earl Butz --> Richard Nixon --> Elvis Presley

Huh. I always heard it as something FAT, something loose and something warm.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:Former agriculture secretary under Nixon and Ford who had to resign after a series of offensive remarks (i.e.: something tight, something loose, and something warm)..
There was a movie called "Loose Shoes" at some point in the 80s with a pretty funny (at least to my 15-ish-year-old self) production number based on this remark.

I don't know about your dad, but Tricky Dick broke this chain several years ago. As for Elvis, people can believe what they want.andrewjackson wrote: That ends one of my "six degrees of separation" to famous people. My dad knew Earl Butz slightly from his days at Purdue. I have a new chain now involving federal judges. Most of whom are technically still alive.
