A border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica was off by 3,000 meters on Google Maps. This sparked Nicaraguan military commander Eden Pastora to invade Costa Rica and order troops to take down Costa Rican flags in a disputed territory. A Google spokesperson said the source of the error was unknown, but two entire countries have felt its effects.
I predict we'll see this question on SyndieBAM before the end of the season.

May I amend my prediction to: "Some aspect of this trivial news story will be incorporated into a SyndieBAM question before the end of the season"?
Most likely they'll give the country names and ask for the website.

did have a suspicion that the whole story might be a fabrication by Microsoft, whose Bing maps were cited as being correct. Has beast found a citation that corrects the one I posted?
And, yes, for the sake of the humor-challenged, I recognize that it's pretty stupid to be blaming an online map site, when the official maps of both nations were reputed to be correct. Did I need to make that explicit with a smiley to avoid beast's accusation?
