You might do better. I just took the test for s&g while I was watching tv and passed. Had I been all tensed up trying to be "prepared" I probably would have muffed it.

Same with the old phone game. If I had complete quiet, was seated at an orderly table waiting to dial with a clean notebook and sharpened #2 pencils, I'd foul up. I did my best work kneeling in front of the coffee table scribbling questions in the margins of a newspaper while yelling at the kids to STFU, I'm on the phone.

I've been having "test yips" the last couple days - waking up in the middle of the night convinced that I'd forgotten some piece of information (such as the name of the national anthem of Russia) or some surrealistic dream in which something interfered with me taking the test). My darling wife had the same response - it's not life or death, it's just a game show.

Since I'm routinely tired in the early evening, that situation will be normal for me. In any case, the more you try, the better you get at the test-taking, in itself a helpful lesson.

BD and GW have already been warned that I will be unavailable for about 25 minutes tonight (test time plus early log-in to make sure I can get in). Last year's score was around 28; not even being able to come up with a good guess at the first three shot my confidence all to hell. I WILL get at least 40 tonight.

I didn't see anything about taking it on another night when I skimmed the rules. But I think I'll try logging in tonight during the Eastern time zone tests and see if I can't take it then.

You need to sign up in advance. Get over there and sign up for tonight or Thursday. The info about taking the test in another time zone is in the FAQs -- or somewhere in the small print. I read it, too.
