My injuries are over now it's home repairs!

The Roto-Rooter man was very nice when he finally got here yesterday and fixed my kitchen sink. I actually have 3 sinks in my kitchen, one of which I seldom, if ever use. The other one gets very little use, but they're all connected, so he had to work on all of them.
No big deal, I paid him $165 and he was on his merry way.

After I fed 10 people for dinner last night and we loaded the dishwasher completely full, the dishwasher refused to fill with water, which means it won't work. I just spent an hour this morning unloading it and handwashing and drying all the dishes from last night.

I can't help but think the two things are related. I had used the dishwasher on Saturday and it worked fine It's a Bosch dishwasher and we have no one here in Auburn with the exception of Sears that sells or services them. Sears can get here on Wednesday, Feb. 6th!!! I'm not waiting a week and half.

Now, I'm off to see who I can find in Montgomery that can charge me and arm and leg to come and look at it and see if it can be fixed.

I hope everything doesn't come in threes or I'll have one more thing go wrong here in kitchen in the next couple of days.

I'm going to be obvious here, so forgive me if you've already checked. Make sure Mr. Rooter re-opened the water valve leading to the dishwasher. He may have had to shut it off while doing his own repairs, and forgotten to open it back up when he finished. I've had this happen myself, and have learned to check.

Where is it? I looked under the sink, but I'm about as challenged on plumbing stuff as I am electronics. My husband builds buildings from the ground up, but absolutely refuses to help with these things.

He flew in from Madrid yesterday and his plane was four hours late. As a matter of fact, I was under the sink making sure the hose didn't have a kink in it when he got home at 9:30PM. No help was offered, so I am pretty much on my on. I'll go look again right now

OK, I think I found it, but apparently that's not it. Couldn't be that easy for me, of course. Thanks for the tip anyway.

You should call the company that originally came out to fix your sink. They probably did something to the dishwasher.

Look at the pipes under the sinks, and figure out which ones connect to the faucets. Run some hot water and then feel the pipes to see which one belongs to that line. There should be a tee splitter off that line that leads over toward your dishwasher. The pipe leading there will have some sort of valve on it. (This is how ours is connected. I accidentally moved the valve to off position once and had much the same experience as you, which is how I know about this stuff.)

An alternative would be if whoever installed the dishwasher led its hot water feed pipe directly from your water heater to there. You may have to go into your basement and follow the pipes from the heater to find the valve. However, if there's a direct link to the dishwasher, as in separate piping, Mr. Rooter probably wouldn't have had to shut it off.

Just buy a new dishwasher.

Have them move the old one to somewhere that it can be installed - then have Sears come when they wanted to come and you know have 2 working dishwashers.

That'll teach your husband a thing or two about home repairs.

Call the company the fixed your sink and ask them what they did to the dishwasher water line. The guy can probably tell you over the phone how to fix it, but if not, he should come out at no extra charge.
