Successor, he was, to Ezra Taft Benson, who died a at a spritely younger age of about 94.
Benson 40 yars previous to that had been Sec Aggy to Eisenhower.
Marion George Romney, cousin once removed of non-future Pres Mitt Romney is also among the recent nonagenarian biggies.
Amazing what you find out on Wiki. I remembered the story of Benson, but did not know that of Romney.
The implication also is there that in view of the in-and-out health of all the other old guys, Hinckley had actually been running things , for a quarter century.
