Lyrically Speaking - 1/28/08

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 7:18 am

Today is Match Game Monday, meaning that today's songs can be split up into 6 pairs based on some common theme.... which is pretty easy today (Please, please, no standing ovation is necessary).

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and 1 point for each correct match....

1. A man decides after seventy years,
That what he goes there for, is to unlock the door.
While those around him criticize and sleep...

2. I always dug the color your hair
I always loved the clothes you wear
I can't say that you turn me on
But why'd I stay all night long

3. Can't you see her standing there
See how she looks, see how she cares
I let her steal the night away from me

4. I'd be your lover, if you were there
Put your hurt on me, if you dare
Such a woman, you got style
You make every man feel like a child

5. Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl my lord in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me

6. I got more then you
And you can set it free
I can catch the moon in my hand
Don't you know who I am

7. I don't wanna live here no more,
I don't wanna stay
Ain't gonna spend the rest of my life,
Quietly fading away

8. I can't get used to living here
While my heart is broke, my tears I cry for you
I want you here to have and hold
As the years go by, and we grow old and gray

9. Can't get no rest
Don't know how I work all day
When will I learn?
Memories get in the way

10. ____, "Nien! It's mine!" is just his line
To bind your time, it drives you to, crime

11. Something in the moonlight catches my eye
The shadow of a lover goes dancing by
Looking for a little bit of love to grow

12. That kinda lovin'
Turns a man to a slave
That kinda lovin'
Sends a man right to his grave

Arrggghhh!! I got 2 and 12 bass ackwards!!

I always thought that those Aerosmith ballads in that time period sounded the same..didn't care for 'em never paid much attention to the lyrics

But I HAVE the Andy Taylor song on a compilation cd..love the groove of it. Guess I never listened much to the lyrics. Thought I had it right, though...the lyrics seemed to fit the groove..ah well...

Crazy - Seal

2. I always dug the color your hair
I always loved the clothes you wear
I can't say that you turn me on

See how she looks, see how she cares
I let her steal the night away from me
Heart and Soul - Huey Lewis & the News

The simple theme was songs with the same title.

1-12 Crazy (Guess I could have used Gnarls Barkley, but I missed it the last time starfish [or was it vails?] used it in an LS, so maybe I hold a grudge. I do love their remake of Gone Daddy Gone, about the only Violent Femmes song I can stand to listen to, and it gets a lot of airplay on the Wal~Mart radio....)

2-5 Take It Easy

3-11 - Heart and Soul

4-8 - Photograph

6-10 - Fame

7-9 - Games People Play
