The No Edition Edition

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 10:34 am

This isn't representative of anything that's actually happening around here; it's what I wish were happening.
I wish it would rain. . .

I just didn't want to hijack another thread to introduce my new avatar. That's Matias's scrunchy-face, as MatiasMom calls it. He is a doll!

This one may last longer than the last two.

VERY cute! You can have some of our rain if you want. We're supposed to go camping this weekend, and my enthusiasm is further dampened by the forecast. And it didn't start in a good place - this cartoon best expresses my feelings about camping:

Y'all are going camping in the wrong places. This is what it looked like out our "front door" over the July 4 weekend:

This is about 10 miles from our July 4 camp over a gravel road, or about five miles hiking. Much of the hike would be above 10,000 feet, so maybe the drive would be better.

SteelersFan has camped here on his elk hunting trips.

Marley, you fomenter!

Matias did the smearing.

ES could not have done it. He was not in Colorado, and he has never been in Colorado.

And if he ever tries to get near Matias, Hose-B will handle it quite handily. Er, pawly. Uh, toothy. You know what I mean.

It's an old joke, Marley.

The Hispanic firefighter and his wife had chosen Jose as the name for their son when he was born. Surprise, they got twins! So they name them Jose and Hose-B.

There actually never was a Jose. Hose-B's sister was named Siren, and it fit her perfectly -- a very vocal, very beautiful feline.

I am not playing hard to get. I am serious about all the defensive measures I have invoked to keep that mangy rodent away from me, with the sole exception of the nuclear weaponry, and I don't think they let civilians get near that stuff.

Come to think of it, MatiasUncleRob just got home from a six-year stint in the Navy, one year of which he served aboard a nuclear submarine. Maybe he has some insight for me . . .

If it weren't for the rain (Actually, make that storms) continually zapping my power and affecting my connection, there may have been an edition to celebrate. But I won't argue with a little more sleep than usual.....

I'd hate to see Hose-B in a hand-to-hand battle against MBRS. I think he would win, but it would be a Phyrric victory.

He was wise to wave The Beautiful One on through.

At least you finally bumped off Crawlspace Fanny. I haven't had the time for avatars this week, and needed to be slapped upside the head to make a new one.....

Are we going to be able to vote in this year's countdown?

Matias might be able to sweep the honors. I'm still partial to Cool Dude Matias and his crew. 8)

Today on the internet i saw a cartoon of a red squirrel licking jam off the face of a happy child and I laughed, and I could not explain the humor to anyone within one hundred miles.

Thank you Al Gore for inventing the interweb.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Yes, 85 miles.
