My posting total looks so pathetic on that list. But, hey, I was still a newbie at the time!

And I still had the attitude (acquired from other forums) that all posts should be meaningful, to keep the signal to noise ratio high. :P

What was the topic, concern or conspiracy theory of the day?

(In addition, where was I? Was I not posting in January? Was I working hard? Was I off auditioning somewhere?)

The dual threat of the infamous Phone Game lockout and a Gus chase that night (Notice the Post number of the original post)

My recollection is that you were very limited in your posting during my first year on the Bored (early summer 2000 through Summer 2001). In fact, you once made one of Eyegor's "Lost BB's" lists of posters who hadn't posted in a while back when he was the primary Bored historian....

I know there was a period of time when I didn't post much on this bored. I kept on reading it, though. As a result, I felt like I knew everyone pretty well, but I was a stranger to many of the then regulars for a while.
(They thought I was a newbie, but to me, they were the recent arrivals.)

Ah, memories. LB and I had taped our respective disappointing episodes the previous week, and were waiting for them to air a week later. But at least I was able to dull the pain by researching glowing vegetables. I was reading the board back then, but hadn't posted yet, as I recall.

I think the episode we both considered to be the most disappointing was the same one....

Obviously I was reflecting on that on the anniversary last Friday. 7 years, unbelievable....

One additional note for those who wonder why they can't crack into the elite tiers of the rankings....

The above list was actually pretty typical of the average day on the Bored from January - June 2001 (Covering the Verbose Class and the early part of the Morose Class)... at least on the top end of the list (There just wasn't as many with so many posts each day, but 50+, even 100+ posting days by individual posters were not uncommon). And when you factor in 2 years of Seven Clues (Dr J, who still sits in the Top 30, was basically an active poster on the Bored for just those 2 years), this is why the bars are set so high....

It's still incredible to me that I only posted 9 times that day.

January 2001 had over 6,000 posts inthe GC. I know that many of us mostly posted over there and lurked over here.

Yes, it is.

However, beast's stats were from one day, not the whole month. We posted close to 1000 posts/day for a sustained period.

Of course, a particular game show was in its heyday.

Stats for the first 6 months of 2001 for the PRoG and the GC:

January 2001: 17436 ..... 6325

February 2001: 16704 ..... 6986

March 2001: 25639 ..... 9364

April 2001: 34344 ..... 9742

May 2001: 31432 ..... 6075

June 2001: 23761 ..... 4508

Of course, we had the advantage of having a flood of newbies compared to the invite only GC, plus we had more extraneous stuff going on that they would do in chat. One interesting thing I never noticed before is that for both Boreds, April 2001 was the most prodigious month in the Bored's history. I always blamed our April spike on the robertl30 factor, but I doubt that would have been the reason over there....
