The place in NH also had the gown in stock in taffeta for BD to try on. She had tried it on in silk elsewhere. As I understand it, gowns are heavy. I can see there's a lot of fabric, but GW's description sounded like BD would be lugging around a good sized sack of potatoes on her back. Taffeta, I am told, is much lighter. Since we're having an August wedding, lighter would be better. FSIL and his buddies will be sweating bullets in their dress blues, but at least BD will be okay.
As I finished writing yesterday's entry, GW, BD and one of the bridesmaids, whom we shall call BF1 (Best Friend 1), were off to the chosen store looking at the bridesmaids dresses. I'm not sure if there's a fitting going on or not at this point. When BF1 arrived, the three of them started talking about the dresses and accompanying items. I walked by and looked over at the pictures. GW looked at me and said, in a tone usually used for the pets, "You don't need to be here, go on."
<Obi>"You don't need to see these papers. You can go about your business. Move along."</Obi>
Meanwhile I had to go upstairs and put the gown and wedding site photos onto my memory stick so BD could show them on her laptop to BF1. Technical stuff.
Ah, dress blues. FSIL and his buds will be in full military regalia, alongside me and HS (Handsome Son) in our tuxes. It may take the guys as long to get themselves into their outfits as the gals. Dress uniforms are incredibly complex to put on. Everything needs to be just so. FSIL attended BD's graduation ball in his other dress uniform, and I saw part of the preparation. He actually carries a template to align his various ribbons and such precisely as required. And there is a foam thingie with a name I disremember that holds his pants in place just so on his boots. Graduation day wasn't all that warm, but FSIL was sweating bullets all the same. If the wedding day is hot, it may not be the bride who faints.

Not me. I recognize my limitations and work with my strengths. While I am interested in the knowledge of the dresses, registries, patterns, etc., I want no part of the decision.peacock2121 wrote:I appreciate how your feelings have not yet been hurt.
