Jaye: I don’t really watch the show either.

Tom: Yeah.

Jaye: Have you seen them on any talk shows?

Tom: Well, I’ve seen Jon & Kate, I think it was on “Divorce Court,” but I can’t be sure.

Tom: Ok.

Jaye: The other six, I know there are at least two boys, but I’m not sure if there’s three boys.

Tom: Yeah, I think you know more about the gender split than I do. I wouldn’t even want to lead you to one over the other. Again, this is a show that I’ve really never seen.

Q9

My favorite question, which allows me to try and thunk combinatorial mathematics I last learned about, about forty years ago....
Spoiler
Contestant says the knows oldest two are girls, and that at least two other are boys, sounds as if that should be a wash as far as predicting the final numbers, but. assuming 0.5 gender distribution at birth, then of the 64 gender possibilities for the younger kies:

1/64 - 6G
6/64 - 5G - 1B
15/64 - 4G - 2B
20/64 - 3G - 3B
15/64 - 2G - 4B
6/64 - 1G - 5B
1/64 - 6B

Eliminating possibilities which do not yields one of the total child counts in the four game options,

15/56 4G - 2B
20/56 3G - 3B
15/56 2G - 4B
6/56 1G - 5B.

Corresponding to a percentage chance of the four game responses

A - 27% B - 36% C - 27% D - 10%

Psychologically, though, if there had been an equal number of boys and girls, the show would have made a big deal of it, so one can almost certainly eliminate the possibility of "C", leaving with an almost 50% chance that B was the right answer. One can also wonder on the effects of actual probability the fuzzy recollection of two boys, not sure about three, but I am not as certain now about it as I was when I was watching the show. FWIW.
Q10 - had to have been affected by the thought that "Rosetta" sounds Latin/Italian. But it was in those days the Brits were taking stuff home to look at in their museums at night....
I am willing to bet contestant would have correctly guessed the current location of the "Elgin Marbles". All of 'em.

Isn't Kate Gosselin ON "Dancing With the Stars" this season? Wonder how she felt about Tom Bergeron's comments.... Especially "I know more about them than I care to already."
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

Some people might be insulted, but that would imply that those people had some shred of dignity, integrity or self-respect left. I doubt that applies here.

One of the best sports movies ever made, but one which has fallen through the cracks for many people. Redford went against character to play a guy who was essentially a complete, self-centered jerk. Gene Hackman was also good as his coach. It's just been released on a Criterion DVD and it's well worth a Netflix rental.

Wow, I'd like to see you run through all of that mathematics while keeping the expert talking about something else, so that Meredith didn't cut him off.

From the couple of times I've seen that show, I thought only two of the sextuplets were boys.

It was a beautiful example of "keep the "expert"'s mouth running until you arrive at an answer on your own, thus defeating the clock". I couldn't have done it because like Bergeron I've only seen the Gosslyns in brief news-TV footage clips. As though they were news, or something.

Did they maybe film these BAM shows before Kate Gosslyn was lined up to be a "this year's contestant"? I give Bergeron all kinds of marks for honesty, at any rate. And he agrees with me!

These episodes were taped in November. I don't know when they decided on the cast of this season's DWTS.

<*sigh*> Although elwing is a big fan of the show (and I watch it with her, though with less enthusiasm), I don't see the need to have another "special" week of BAM.

It's goodbye for me. I have no idea, the expert couldn't help and DD would do me no good, so I'm walking away. I'd be interested in knowing when these episodes were taped - Kate Gosselin is one of the "celebrities" this season.
