What is it with this year already - fuzzywuzzy Mom

#1 Post by fuzzywuzzy » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:50 pm

My Mom has tested positive for Lupus. She was displaying many of the symptoms at the end of Dec/early January. First they thought that she was having an allergic reaction to Allevee.

Her GP did many tests, and found that although she tests positive for Lupus, she doesn’t have Lupus. Weird, I know... Lupus is very difficult to diagnose. :(

However, I am in contact with the experts here, to get her a referral in Boston. I want her to have a specialist who can do all the tests and give her a true diagnosis. One that will hopefully put to rest all the speculation!
Then we can do what is necessary!

I just went to the Lupus Research Institute site, and printed off material for her, and put it in the mail.

Just by the sound of her voice, I know that my Mom is scared.

It is times like these that I HATE being so far away from home.

I understand that completely.

Hugs to you fuzzy and to your Mom.

And to all the rest of the BBs, if you Mom is still around, divorced or not, please give her a call this week.

It just seems to be a rough time for the BoredMoms.

Maddie's first grade teacher had Lupus and she is one of the nicest people that I know. She is energenic and active and has a lot of stuff going on.

Things will be ok for your Mom, I just know it.

Hope the actual diagnosis is something less troubling for her, but whatever it is, that she will be ok.

Oh fuzzy, how unsettling for you and your mom. Here's hoping for a quick, sure diagnosis so you can get a handle on what you need to do. Sending best vibes.

When I spoke with her last evening, she was in great spirits! However, when I told her that I am working on getting a specialist's in Boston for her, she told me that she didn't need a specialist.

Ahem, "Mom, we want to find out definitively what is going on with you".

Everyone here knows, that eventually you switch roles with your parents. :? Young lady, if you don't do as I tell you, you're grounded! :)

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and kind words. It means alot to me! :)

I will keep you all in the loop as we progress through this medical adventure!

Happy Friday...

UPDATE

I have been given the name of 3 specialists in Boston. The physcian who has referred them to me, is amazing! :D

He said if we had any problem that he would call for us to get my Mom an appointment. :)

I am going to call my Mom this afternoon, and give her the information.

But, I am also going to e-mail the info to my brother, so he will print it off for my Mom!

I am feeling better now that she is going to be seen by a specialist who has a clinical interest in systemic lupus.
