QOD 1/14 Answers, Scores, etc
Looks like I edited instead of quoting, so the answers are now at the beginning.
Game 3, Day 1
Jeopardy Round - "Presidential Superlatives"
$200 - Longest-serving
FDR
$400 - Tallest
Lincoln
$600 - First born in a hospital
Carter
$800 - Lived longest after leaving office
Hoover. Left office 3/4/33, lived until 10/20/64. That's 31 years, 7 months, 16 days. Ford made it close, leaving office 1/20/77 and living until 12/26/06, but that's not quite 30 years.
$1000 - Fathered the most children
John Tyler. 15 of the little buggers! Reminds me of the Groucho Marx line about the cigar.
Double Jeopardy Round - "The Civil Rights Movement"
$200 - This NAACP field secretary was shot and killed outside his Jackson, MS home by Byron de la Beckwith
Medgar Evers
$400 - 18 years after the landmark Civil Rights Act, the Civil Rights Restoration Act was passed over this President's veto
Ronald Reagan. After I posted answering AJ that I thought the CRRA was in 1982, I looked again and it looks like it was 1988. So it should be 24 years, not 18. Apologies to all, and if this prevented you from getting the question right, let me know.
$600 - Precedent-setting case overruled by Brown v Board of Ed
Plessy v Ferguson
$800 - He became the leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference after the assassination of Martin Luther King
Ralph Abernathy
$1000 - Not the United Mine Workers leader, he's a former president of SNCC and the author of Walking With the Wind. He's also a U.S. Congressman from Georgia.
John Lewis

John Lewis. I think at one time, for better or for worse, mostly worse, he was my congressman. But they keep monkeying with the districts. Now I am in the 13th district, what was one of the most gerrymandered districts in the state, although it too has now been revised now that democrats no longer control the statehouse. So now it is the repubs doing the gerrymandering.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
