Learned all about the Great Blue Hole on my cruise this past July. Also learned that the reef system off the coast of Belize is the second-largest in the world after the Great Barrier Reef.

The last time that happened - two $50K winners on January 6th and 8th (both with the help of PAF).

I knew integumentary but for the STRANGEST reason.

I have a VERY well-worn copy of The Ring Lardner Reader. It has short stories and articles written for various magazines.

In one magazine article, Lardner parodied Cole Porter's lyrics to "Night and Day."

He honed in on the line, "Night and day, under the hide of me, there's an oh such hungry yearning burning inside of me."

Lardner had lots of fun coming up with alternatives.

"Night and day under my dermis, dear, There's a spot just as hot as coffee kept in a thermos, dear."

"Night and day under my cuticle There's a love all for you so true it never would do to kill."

AND, my favorite, which is probably why it stayed with me....

The Great Blue Hole is kind of an evil question, but knowledge of either geography or oceanography might have helped rule some things out. An underwater sinkhole is most likely to happen in a) regions that are seismically active; and b) regions that have a high percentage of sedimentary rock near the surface. I would like to think I would've been able to guess Belize, but Peru is a nasty distractor, given the much larger number of miles that can be considered "coastline" for that country.

25K: Knew it knew it knew it. When you know it, you know it. The contestant looked like she felt the wrong word had come out of her mouth, but it was the right word for the answer.

50K: Well, I was pretty sure he wasn't prime minister, even though I can't name who is. The name is mixing me up with Minimoto for some reason (I just googled it, its a bike company), & Miyamata, the chemical factory that tried to hide mercury poisoning they caused many years ago.

$100K, I knew this from watching the Today show in late 2008. Matt Lauer went to Belize and did his report swimming/snorkeling in the Blue Hole, when Meredith went to Australia, Al to Greenland and Ann to Mt Kilimanjaro, when the Today show went to talk about global warming, I believe.

I applaud contestants who are willing to take the risk on a DD in the upper tier. Given that Debbie didn't have the DD left, I was surprised that she went with a hunch, right after telling us about this $50K goal. Maybe she was a lot more certain about her guess than it sounded.

Have I mentioned yet how much I love Greek and Latin questions? The Latin word "integere" means "to cover", so skin was the only answer that made sense.

Not sure where I saw it but recently saw something about the Cohen/Eminem thing. Maybe a People magazine in the physical therapy waiting room.

No clue at 50K but if I get past that the 100K is a cinch between too many viewings of Cousteau - National Geographic specials. Not to mention having been to the blue hole in question off the coast of Belize among others including one in French Polnesia.

I think she was still on a major high from getting the last guess correct, and I'm pretty sure she would have happily walked with her 50k if Meredith hadn't encouraged her to verbalize her guess on this one.

I've nothing against "going for it," but I sure bet she wouldn't have if Mere hadn't stirred her up, or at least had also reminded her of the downside of doing so.

Muldoon, who is not an avid game show watcher and has never been on television, appeared on Monday's episode of Millionaire, hosted by Meredith Viera.

"I was unemployed and my family had been telling me for years I should go on game shows. My niece said, 'Auntie you should try out for that,' so I put my name in and strangely they invited me for an audition," Muldoon said.

(Underlining is mine.) "Strangely", everyone who requests an audition slot gets one, until all the slots are filled.

Unlike many others who were selected to try out for Millionaire, Muldoon passed the test on her first try and also passed the interview portion of the audition. After a couple of weeks, she received a phone call saying she was in the contestant pool and soon after received a phone call inviting her to New York.

"There is more than one member of my family that said I could have walked with $50,000. My standard response is, 'No guts, no glory,'" she said. "It was a fantastic experience. I wish I had won more but I am very, very content with what I did win."

Hmmm. That doesn't really enlighten us about taking a guess after she reached her goal.
