I still have hope, too- however, I'm in contestant limbo.

In the pool via video auditions for at least another year (maybe two- not sure of the rules)...so I have no further way to get TPTB to notice me.

And given the new rules, I'm not sure how much longer this show stays on the air.

I certainly was not trying to throw insults at your wife, only myself. Why am I not surprised that your wife, like myself, reads Nora or JD whichever you wish to call her. What would have surprised me was if Gordon, a working professional man, had enough time and leisure that he read an author who's writing appeals to mostly women.

Some of you have mentioned cases as to why you know who JD Robb is, but not many. I know a great many women who could have answered that question, can't think of a single man though.
I'm pretty sure she's never been mentioned in any of the "What are you reading?" threads.

Thanks for the kind words. But no, I would have used the DD on the boysenberry Q even with the PAF. My feelings were between loganberry and elderberry. The ATA screwed me up in a major way there. Had I used the ATA earlier, I would have gone straight to the DD and chosen loganberry first.

Same end result, though. IMO it was the use of the ATA that messed me up for later. The more I read here, the more I think the audience would have given me enough of a bump to get me past the $50K. Wasn't meant to be.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

As for Kate's comment about trying to reason out the titles, I've glanced at Robb's title list over at Amazon and they don't seem to make much sense, either.
I looked at that list too.

I noticed her two latest works are entitled "The Lost" and "Big Jack".

No "In Death" in those titles that I can see.

Of course, those both came out after the episode was taped.

"The Lost" is an anthology with short stories by four different authors (the Robb story is Missing in Death).

"Big Jack" is a reprint. Several years ago there was a book that was 'co-written' by Nora Roberts and JD Robb called Remember When (I can't remember if this was before it was widely known that they were both the same person). The In Death books are in the future, so Remember When was sort of like a Cold Case, with the present/past part by Roberts and the present/future part by Robb. They are taking those two parts and publishing them separately.

Good run, Gordon, and a tough break on the 50K question. It was just one of those that's either a gimme or a pure guess depending on what your fields of interest are.

But it's becoming more and move evident that six-figure winners this year will be very few and very far between.

Sadly, the ratings indicate that viewers don't have a problem with this.

I know. That's why I put both of your quotes together, because I was replying to both.

I guess I should have separated them and replied to each, but it looked tidier to have the conversation in order.

Some of them sound right, some like they're stretching the point just to keep the catchphrase going. Midnight in Death? Immortal in Death? Each of them might make more sense, when you're familiar with the content of the book. My comment was primarily addressed at Kate's attempt to reason out the answer, e.g. she couldn't imagine two dozen "And Blood" titles off the top of her head, so she ruled that choice out. This was more of a "you know it or you don't" question than one that could be worked out logically.

"The Secret..." sounds like something from the Nancy Drew mysteries, so I can probably eliminate that one. "... And Blood" sounds a little too clunky to fit into more than two dozen titles. I would ask the audience first. If they don't have a conclusive response, I'll DD on A (and D).
