Hmmm? I've never heard that one, before.

My mom says it's the heads up pennies which are good luck. I pick them all up. Money is money. But I do consider the heads up ones luckier. Nah, I'm not superstitious. Just stitious.

FWIW, BD now has the habit, and GW has a bit of it, too. She found fifteen dollars (bills, not change) the other day when out walking the dogs. She claimed the dogs paid her for taking them out.

My greatest find was a one ounce U.S. gold piece! I still have it.

It was one of the new collectible American Eagles in a plastic case. I found it one the floor of my bar. No one ever claimed it.

Gordon, how exciting is this!!! I was up at 3AM catching up on things, and I use a DVR to watch BAM. I wasn't really looking at it, just had it on as background, when I became aware about midway through your first day's run, that there was a fabulous contestant on. I thought to myself, this contestant really knows what he is doing! When I saw it was you, I was instantly awake and jumping out of my seat!!!! I am so happy for you and your family. I can't wait to watch yesterday again with my whole family as I told them the story about the whole Disney thing (fyi, one of my sons in law told them he couldn't make it a certain day, and they never ever called him again!!) I am looking forward to today's show but I will not be spoiled so it will be around 10PM tonight. I am sending you the congratulatory vibes from Blauvelt!!!! So, so cool. And luckily I will be looking more closely this Friday because Phil will be on. I feel like I know him through his avatar!!! I am so glad that I know all this wonderful stuff is happening!! (I apologize for all the exclamation points, but I am really so happy )

My MIL found a $100 bill while walking home from the grocery. She was passing near a bank with a drive-up window and figured maybe it blew out of someone's car. So she took it to the bank and turned it in; the bank told her that if no one claimed it in 30 days, she got to keep it. No one did, so she got the money. That was back in the days when $100 was real money (mid 1970s).

Gordon, it was a pleasure to watch you today. After the absolute debacle of last week's shows, I wondered how much longer this show can last with the pathetic contestants they seem to be so hung up on.

Fantastic job Gordon, simply fantastic and a joy to watch. Looking forward to today's show and any more details of your experience.

As an aside, I didn't find anything in the recent string of contestants to categorize them as 'pathetic' (the experts, OTOH is a different matter). I think of lot of them have been quite good, serious and qualified. While I'm thrilled to see a BB'er on the show, and Gordon is doing great - I don't think there is any point to denigrate those players we don't know. Remember it was the same process that was used to select Gordon (and lots and lots of other BBer's as well).

I found a $100 bill in the parking lot of a Dollar General in Nebraska. I didn't turn it in to anybody other than the cashier when I was paying my hotel bill.

I loved how you talked about picking up "found money". I am constantly scanning for money, and when I find some, I put it in a container to save for the rest of the year (for good luck, just like you), and then put it in my savings account.

When I was waiting with my asst. producer to enter the set for my second day on the show last year, there was a penny on the floor a few feet away. I was eyeing it and REALLY wanted to pick it up, but wasn't sure that would be allowed. I eventually mentioned it to the producer who asked me if I wanted it and then got it for me. I had it on the little water glass shelf during that day's questions.

The saying I like to use (heard first during the movie "Grease") is: "See a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck."

We know that if you can remember (or have you someone in the audience remember) your stack and you are the last taped contestant of the day and you are a carry-over - you can do some research on the topics as a study guide. Generally this won't work for those mid-week carry-overs because all you get to do is change your clothes - but there is a loophole that was available when I taped - I don't know if they fixed it and I will post it if asked - or PM if you don't think it should be public.
