Just did some Douglas Adams research and found out there was another book after Mostly Harmless written by new authors approved by his widow. It is called And Another Thing.... Time to hit the library!

I would say that most native speakers refer to a particular version of Spanish as Castellano.

My admittedly somewhat limited experience with Spanish speakers is that people in the parts of Spain that speak Castilian call it "español" while speakers in the U.S., Mexico, and Central America call general Spanish "español" unless they mean Castilian which they call castellano. Apparently in Argentina and neighboring areas they use castellano for General Spanish which may have started to distinguish it from Galician and other Iberian languages.

The Spanish speaking soccer fans that I hang out with are mostly from Mexico and Central America. They would say "español" for the most part and further distinguish it as español mexicano or español salvadoreño. They would only use castellano to mean the language as spoken in Spain.

When I worked at the summer camp we had a connection in Spain and got quite a few campers from there. Some of them came back year after year and worked their way to junior or regular counselors but often had to miss a summer while they stayed in Spain to take "Spanish classes". They were mostly from Catalan or the very northern parts of Spain so they had to improve their castellano before going to college.

It has been awhile but that was the first stack that I got to 25K without a lifeline needed for some time now.

I guess if you aren't sure then you should use a lifeline but he seemed to be burning them up when he didn't really need them. Had he saved them maybe he gets the 25K Q. Would be curious to see if the ATA would get the last one.

A cob nobbler?

The post was slamming the NYT for not getting the cultural reference. I looked up cob nobbler

From the grunge speak hoax printed in the NY times. They asked an employee of Sub-Pop records if there was any grunge slang in Seattle, she made some up, and they printed it, thinking it was real.

I am guessing that at least one BB may know where the College World Series was held prior to Omaha, Nebraska.

As a bonus tidbit, this year will be the last year that the CWS is held in Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium (named for a former mayor). Omaha is completing a brand new, 25,000 seat stadium for the CWS for use beginning in 2011. There likely will be an influx of big names at the ol' ball park this summer. It will be interesting if any retired MLB stars who played in Omaha come back for a final farewell, such as Dave Winfield.

I already can tell you that Kevin Costner again will be back, with or without Cal-Fullerton.

Yep, it's a guide reference. More often then not either a handle I pick is used or on some sites it requires a number and I figured that is the best number to use (being the ultimate answer and all). Since I'm not the first to think of it, I sometimes found the x42 was taken so my default go to number suffix is 042.

BTW, have you read Douglas Adams Dirk Gently books? I didn't really care for The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, but the first one, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is amazing. The first several chapters seem disjointed but pretty soon you can start to figure out what is going on and the ending, IMO, is one of the best ever.

Thanks Jay. I had read all of Adams fiction books before he passed and just picked up And another Thing today from the library. I think I enjoyed the 1st Gently book more but it has been a while since I read them. I also enjoyed the recent movie although I was rather surprised they made it and Mos Def was in it.
The profile picture is my daughter "playing" DJ Hero so she s scratching on a turntable. You can find more pictures at the DJ Poopypants thread. I don't have any pictures of her at a keyboard yet but she is helping me type this right now with her hands and feet.

My original airdate was 1/22 but I suspect it will be pushed back a week or two.
