I'm sorry for your double brain farts in the first tier, John. I'm wondering what you think of Meredith's little attempt at bantering during the deliberation. Did it distract you in any way?

Hey, Meredith! Thanks to The Damned Clock, there is no time, I repeat, no time for bantering during the questions, particularly in the first tier. I know this question was about your other show and you just couldn't resist, but you might have cost John, big time!

A drive-by BB who may have hit the trifecta: Where Else®, What Else®, and possible MAWG®.

[Sigh ...] Just not good.

I'd be really curious to see the MDQ with the category of "The color wheel" ...

Another thought: Any plans to bring back the zero-dollar winners for a new edition of "Llama-rama"?

TPTB never tell us their plans in advance, but my guess is that another Llamarama won't happen. They had that in the first season, probably after deciding that their first tier questions were too difficult, resulting in too many $0 winners. A rare case of guilty conscience, as it were. This season, they've already thrown a sop to the less successful contestants by tweaking the payouts for the lower value questions.

TPTB are surely busy this winter, thinking up new gimmicks to try next season, instead of recycling old ones. Probably involving more celebrities.

Not a particularly strong outing. I suppose TDC can get some credit but it seemed to me that the ATA was wasted at 3K. If 97% of the audience knows this then the cast member has to take some of the blame for burning the lifeline here and thus not having it for the 5K Q.

It was a rather disingenous category title given that 2 of the 4 options, including the correct answer, weren't insects. Not that it likely had any impact on the outcome.

Has no one mentioned the error on the $3K question? The subject was supposed to be "Insects." The tarantula is not an insect.

I must have missed that. Would you care to be more specific? I just searched the Bored for any mentions of spider, insect, and tarantula with respect to this question, but came up empty.

They almost made the first question a $1000 safe level which would have meant all these llamas, except for the one who tanked the first question, would have left with a grand each. It looks like TPTB (though not Mere) decided they would like to see a few (say 10-15 a year) to go home with nothing. This gets some YouTube (play 'em off, Keyboard Cat!) attention for the show.

One post up from your original post:
tanstaafl2 wrote:It was a rather disingenous category title given that 2 of the 4 options, including the correct answer, weren't insects. Not that it likely had any impact on the outcome.
While the category title was indeed misleading at best I suppose it must be noted that the question itself used "bugs" rather than "insects".

I suppose one can call tarantulas (and centipedes) bugs. But as you note certainly not insects.

Of course Tarantulas aren't particularly dangerous unless:

Viera's new strategy - distract the contestant, save Disney some more money.
Hence, the fourth 'llama' in as many months, and the third of four straight losses that brings Millionaire's historic 'noughties' decade to a disappointing close.

Isn't it about time for Meredith to give away a million again (without the T-10 shortcut)?

Might have??? Meredith is in danger of becoming as inept as Regis nearly was while on the clock on some of those primetime episodes from August.

Really sorry John got Meredized there.

(My new keyword for SydnieBAM, whenever she fakes out or distracts a contestant - Meredize.
'Who Wants to Be Meredized?')

Funny, you'd think that a top-rated journalist (and 'Today Show' shameless-plugger) would have noticed that...

I seem to recall one of the former 'llamas' leaving with $250K on his or her second stack of questions. If it saves them money, then no wonder TPTB haven't done a follow-up on that.

They did something similar in the UK - only two questions in the first tier there now.

Funny how they don't mind 'Millionaire' clips popping up on YouTube, yet in the case of most of the rest of their shows/movies, Disney/ABC contemplates legal action.

Okay, enough scolding of the host and TPTB, let's have them make it up to us with some big winners in 2010.
But if Meredith ever retires as 'Millionaire' host, I'd love to see Keyboard Cat play *her* off for a change.
