I got the dreaded series change on a bill by a user who doesn't know what they're doing. Thankfully, WG emails you when someone does this, so I can check to see if it may have indeed been am istake on my part or not. The series was changed from my entry of 2003 to 2003A by the user..... however, the bill was entered by me on 11/4/04..... several months before Series 2003A even rolled off the presses (I still remember getting my very first Series 2003A bill in change from Kauffman Stadium in July 2005)... so I threw away a "hit" from Maine of all places and switched it back.....

This happens because an error screen pops up anytime you enter a bill with a serial number that is already in the database under another series. It's there to help people who may have entered the wrong series on a wild, but it seems like only the seasoned pros know how to navigate around the error since newbies always just assume they have made the mistake and falsely correct a series.....

I'm sorry, it was a mistake!

Actually, what I did the other night was enter a George with a 'C' serial number (coincidentally, one of two sequential Georges) and I got those error screens asking if it was really a 'G'. Am I sure it's a 'C'? Yes, I am. Is it already marked? ... And I hit the "yes" link instead of the "no" link and suddenly it says I'm registering a hit on a bill from Ft. Worth. Oops, no, I'm not!

But I figured out how to e-mail Hank with my confession, so he corrected it, yesterday. Nice to know that the originator of the bills also gets a chance to review the issue, too.

When Hank first added the C/G Error thing, he apparently didn't include the code to enter a seperate bill entry for the bill you were entering. So if you were entering the G bill, and there was already a C in the database.... it would either change both bills to G if you said it was already marked, ot change both bills to C if you said it wasn't marked. I had this mistake when someone hit a bill which was a C/G twin of one of mine, and it fused them together and gave me a "stealth hit" from 4 months prior that gave me a heart attack when I saw it. In fact, my posting of it in the WG forums is what got Hank to fix it (Probably my only WG claim to fame).....

Most of my bills come from the same places (since I'm a creature of habit) but it's interesting seeing some of the more unusual sources show up as hits. I just got a hit on the second George this week that came from the Great American Irish Festival, in July. Both hits down in Broome County, too.

Just had my first back to back hitless days since November 25 and 26th of 2004.....

Were it not for a hit early on Christmas morning, It would have been my first 3 calendar day hitless drought since January 2-4 of 2004. Actually, it has been 72 hours since my last hit now.....
