3K: I don't eat any of them. The 3 I know about are too sickeningly sweet, not enough chocolate taste. [I guess I've now insulted devotees of these bars beyond belief, but the adult ones can take it, & at least one of the rest may well post how terrible it is to diss beloved candy bars because "everyone loves something" or whatever.] Don't believe I've ever even seen a Twix. Would be my choice just from the name, but I'd never seen the commercial, either. ATA

15K: The infamous toleware Q. Since this is a seperate thread about this contestant's Q stack, all reading will know that it is just that, & will not read past the 1st, spoilerized entry if they want to play along, so I don't have to spoilerize my answer here.

Which is, not to recreate the whole other thread where people tell me about their degrees & all (I have some, my sister has some too, including in this case courses in relevant fields to the topic, lotsa other people in the group & in the world do too, just for the record) where I figured out that of the 4 choices only the coffeepot could be called "somethingware" just as my sister, the ceramicist, called out "its pottery".

Just for the record again, duly noted that it turns out toleware is not actually a ceramic, but metal that's that's been enameled with images. Whether this enamelling is painted on & that's that, or requires firing to fix it as I suspect, I have not yet actually checked. If so, it would of course have to be done at temperatures that don't melt the metal. I should check this.

At any rate, Paula P. did say that "the only one of the 4 choices she'd ever seen on a stamp was a Navaho blanket". And so have I, but it turns out it wasn't a 2002 5c stamp she saw it on, & anyway you wouldn't normally call a blanket "somethingware". Paula P. did not say "I'm sure toleware must be a Navaho blanket" (similar to the kind of wrong direction Ali Wentworth gave countless times; well, OK they're countable but I haven't yet) but saying she'd seen a blanket on a stamp was "good enough" for the contestant, & he did himself in based on it.

I think BAM giving these J!-type "2 clue" questions, which they've done a few times before, is deadly. Yes, J! contestants are under time constraint to answer too, but they're not "one & done" if they answer wrongly.

And oh yeah, if I'd seen a marionette on a stamp (they may well be on one, but not as an example of toleware, that's for sure) I'd have run screaming even if I badly needed that denomination of stamp, because I find marionettes really creepy, which opinion could make marionette fans upset too, but see comment on candy bars above.

Too bad for this guy. I'm gearing up for med school in a couple years, and I can totally understand what kind of financial situation he's going to be in. Money would have been nice, Paula.

At this point, Meredith is trying to "sell" the single guy to the ladies and even prior to his Notebook revelation I had thought she was talking to the wrong crowd. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but Dan had a lot of effeminate mannerisms and watching "The Notebook" many times is not making him look more masculine. I look at my wife and we both think he may be gay.

Um... I like Barney Frank a lot, too but it was funny to us that he was a big fan of one of the few openly gay congressman after our earlier talk.

On another note, how charismatic must Congressman Frank be? You may not agree with his politics but you must admit to overcome such obstacles (gay, overweight, speech impediment) to become a congressman (even in Massachusetts) takes an extraordinary person.

The infamous "toleware" question. I don't know what toleware is, but "ware" implies utensils (silverware, flatware, etc.) so I might have been drawn to the right answer that way. In the HS, and under the pressure of TDC, however, I probably would have gone with PAF, figuring the audience wouldn't know this.
