Somebody named Rick Neuheisel just called me.

#1 Post by PlacentiaSoccerMom » Wed Jan 02, 2008 7:43 pm

Somebody named Rick Neuheisel just called me. Apparently he is coaching the UCLA football team and he wants me to come to games on Saturdays. Then he started dissing a "crosstown school" that he did not name specifically. He started talking about the great educational advantages of UCLA, but he didn't ask for money.

If you signed up for the "no call" list, you can sue him.

He told you I was his biggest fan, didn't he?

I should. He's probably making a lot of money.

So whom did he sue and how much did he win?

Rick's not a non-profit. He made $17K on his basketball picks.
Neuheisel does come with some baggage though as he was fired by Washington in 2003 after he admitted gambling $6,400 in two off-campus NCAA basketball tournament pools -- bets that netted the former coach more than $17,000.

This part was a bit disturbing:

"I'm elated that it's over. It's been 21 months and it's been hard," said Neuheisel, who signed autographs for jurors.

I was mostly on his side, too, but that crossed some kind of line.

I wonder why he needed a $1.5 million loan. Maybe it was for legal fees!

His entire coaching career provides evidence that he is a creep. I feel sorry for UCLA alumni, who will have to feel the sting of probation within a few years.

A bunch of folks were furious when he dumped CU for Washington. We weren't sorry when he got fired there, and we won't be sorry when he's fired at UCLA.

It just seemed strange that he would be calling people to let them know he is at UCLA. People who care, already know.

Maybe he will be on the ballots in Iowa, and is calling to get your support.

I was waiting for him to ask for a donation to UCLA (to cover his salary/legal fees). Maybe somebody will be calling us tomorrow.

Jeff will be home though, he will hang up the minute they mispronounce his name.

I have never heard it said aloud, I guess. I assumed SOO-SHARD, with almost equal accent on each syllable, maybe a little more on the first? Now I am experimenting, and can hear soo-SHARD working very well, also. If it is French, do you nearly drop the d?

sc,

fwh was at UCLA when Neuheisel was a player. Needless to say, he is NOT thrilled on UCLA's choice of their new Head Coach.

In fact, when Neuheisel was coaching Colorado, we had season tix. Saw him up close, and did not like his attitude or coaching style!

Thanks for posting the link.

It does seem like trouble follows him everywhere.
We'll see what happens. How much is UCLA paying him? With the settlement he received, he could live well with no job.

He is being paid $1.25 million a year, plus incentives. He signed a five year contract.

I thought I was the only one who did this - I also tell them they must have the wrong number - sometimes this really baffles them - since a computer dialed me and put the (presumably) correct spelling of my name on the screen - but I am certain no Mr. Eckerson lives here.

Back when I was very single I would get calls asking to speak to the lady of the house. I would inform them there that there wasn't a lady of the house. Usually they would hang up - one time the person said "Oh, I'm sorry" - I replied "I'm not".
