It's a boy

#1 Post by ToLiveIsToFly » Sat Dec 29, 2007 6:37 pm

The hospital has wi-fi, and mommy and baby are finally asleep, but for some reason I can't, even though I've had less than 5 hours in the past 48.

Anyway, our son came out at 1:14 central time today.

Photos are probably not forthcoming. It's one thing to put info for me out on the intarwebs, but I'm a bit hesitant to send out pix of a defenseless kid while we're still in the hospital. Probably we'll change our mind eventually - he is pretty damn cute.

8 lb, 3 1/2 oz, 20 in long, 67 hours of labor culminating in a C-section.

Congrats, Bobby!

I understand. Too bad they didn't decide on a C-section about 43 hours earlier than they did. Glad they are both OK. My 9lb 4 oz son was a C-section, so I know it's no picnic. Your sweet wife deserves a few days rest!

Welcome Frankie! You're in good company, little guy -- my grandpa was Francis Joseph, my mom is Mary Frances, & my brother is Thomas Francis.

No Angelo yet. Karen was heading out for some spicy Mexican food this evening, hopin' to get something going! LOL

Seeing as how we were due on the 17th and even 36 straight hours of pitocin couldn't get Frankie out, we're not exactly full of good advice on bringing about the kiddies sooner. (Though maybe you should remind Karen of the tax advantages of going before midnight Monday)

Welcome, little man! Best wishes to you for a happy and healthy life.

Try to get some rest, Dad -- you'll need it soon!

Hmmmmmmm.....did your wife try going to a class reunion and dancing??
viewtopic.php?t=2414
Although Eileen did go into labor after the reunion, Rose was also born by C-section after more than 40 hours of labor. Now for the horror story (spoilered for the squeamish):
Spoiler
She says she felt the cuts. The OR staff told her, Oh, it's just "pressure." She had surgery previously, and knew the difference between "pressure" and "scissors cutting her flesh!" She suspected that the anesthesiologist was diverting drugs for his own use :( A couple years later, when she had Marcy by planned C-section, she told the hospital that she did not want "Dr. X" in the OR, because of the previous experience. It turned out that "Dr. X" had committed suicide about a year earlier -- she was absolutely right about the drug business. She probably could have had a good lawsuit there, but didn't do it. We have NOT told Karen this story.
Unspoilering -- this is a happy thread, no more horror stories :)

And if Frankie can reach back into Fetus-Land for a sec & give Angelo a tug, we'd sure appreciate it!

Frankie!

Happy Birthday, Frankie!

May you give your parents fits and starts and become your own man.

Isabella wish to reserve the right to call him "Frankie" as a friend, "Frank" as a business associate, and "Francisco Miguel" if she finds him romantically irresistable.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
