RIP Uncle Don
My Uncle Don, eldest of our family, Uncle by marriage, and Uncle of the heart, went to Christmas Eve services, with my Aunt Donalda, and his eldest son Jim and his wife. On the way home, he needed some air, so they stopped and he got out.
On a crisp cold Ontario night, his heart gave out. Two passing off duty police officers stopped and helped. My cousin was doing CPR, his wife was calling 911. To no avail, and after 87 wonderful years, he passed on.
He was a strong vital man, who would have loathed being struck down with something, but still alive to know it. He was still working, creating wonders of Stained glass and wrought iron. While saddened that he is gone from us, we know that it was the best way for him.
How wonderful for him to ascend to Heaven on the night of the Lord's birth, and to witness that joy firsthand.
We'll miss you Unkie D.

I will add Uncle Don, his family and you to my prayers.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
