Since I almost never use cash, my WG input has been pretty meager. I have just three $1 bills in my pocket waiting to be released into the wild.

Now I know: they're still sitting in the cash drawer wherever I spent them.

I paid for lunch with a $10 today and got three $1's in change. I noticed that the next $1 in the cash drawer had my recognizable round WG stamp around the FRB seal. It had to have been sitting there at least since Friday.

I know we can't relog the bills we've registered ourselves, but they've got to go back into circulation to be found! :|

I closed some of the gap, christie, with a $20 that made it to Buffalo, this evening. I think this is one of the first bills I stamped, too, back in April! And that's five of my hits coming from $20 bills--they really do help! 8)

You have entered 571 Bills worth $3,764
Bills with hits: 30 Total hits: 32
Hit rate: 5.25% Slugging Percentage: 5.60% (total hits/total bills)
George Score: 601.59
Your rank (based on George Score) is #8,633

A curious incident tonight: I entered the serial number for a 2003A series George and the computer told me that serial number had already been entered as a 1999 series. I had to go through some extra steps to complete my entry:

1. Yes, I'm sure that serial number and series is correct.
2. No, there's no WG marking placed by anyone else on the bill.
3. No, I haven't yet put my own WG stamp on the bill. (And, yes, I've read the warning that this is a trick question, in that marking before entering is a violation that could get me banned from WG.)

So, I presume this other Georger made a mistake in the serial number, but how likely is it that a mistaken entry would match the two letters and eight digits of a legitimate one? Or else it was a Stealth George with a wrong series entry? :?

I've gotten that about 4 times. I'm pretty sure it's just that they re-cycled the serial number.

When you enter as many bills as I do, that comes up a lot. I save the "twin bills" to my Favroites just to see if they ever get another hit.

I have only been doing this since around the end of 2005 (I believe), and I have 125 such "twin bills" in my favorites. The serial numbers always reset with the beginning of a new series, so bills with the same serial number will get entered in WG all the time. The "error message" is just a check Hank built in to make sure a hit isn't being missed since incorrect series entry is probably the most common mistake made by rookies.....

Okay, I didn't realize they recycled the serial numbers. Were they running out of them?

They reset them every series change regardless of how many they've used.....

Series 1999 and 2001 were short-lived runs, yet they still start over every time one of those signatures changes......

Well, I got an Alexander on Wednesday, entered and stamped it, spent it at lunch yesterday and got it back in change for lunch today. But WG won't give me credit for another hit. I've been jipted!

Here's not only a far away hit, but a nice sleeper that all my apprentice Georgers may someday look forward to getting themselves if they keep at it......

Hey, christie! I got a hit on two Georges, today! The first made it to Chautauqua County (almost to Erie, PA) in a little less than a month. The second is still in Ithaca after 103 days--but it was found at the hospital gift shop, so maybe that George's been sick.

This George came from Circleville, OH, Home of the "Pumpkin Show".
