Okay, since I don't remember expressing interest, do I think this is legitimate?? I can't open the attachment on my blackberry and I can't log onto my email here so I will have to wait until I get home to find out, I guess, unless anyone else has gotten this...Hi,
Thanks for your interest in being a contestant on "Pyramid"
We've attached an application for you to fill out. Be sure to send us back the completed application along with a recent photograph.
Please get everything back to us as soon as possible.
Thanks Again!

Isn't Embassy Row the company that produces DoND? They might have your e-mail address from that application.
Sometimes, BBs post links to audition notices that are posted on Craigslist. These usually include some generic gmail address to respond to. I really get suspicious about those!

I got that email too except that I did express interest. It was that exact email however, so I'd say it's legit...

Cool, thanks...did you just get it recently? Are you going for it?clem21 wrote:I got that email too except that I did express interest. It was that exact email however, so I'd say it's legit...
I don't even know how the show works (I know, I know...) but it might make more sense than DoND if I'm guaranteed to play. Well, I was honest when I say I haven't applied for other shows at the time I filled out the DoND app...so I guess as long as this one doesn't ask that I can try for both and see if one sticks.

Actually, I just looked it up because it didn't sound familiar for DoND, it's actually Endemol that does that show.sunflower wrote:And that's a good point, maybe they do that. It looks like it is, maybe because it's not in active production or not on tv yet, they don't list it?dimmzy wrote:I just checked Embassy Row. They don't produce Pyramid ...

Re: Pyramid Application?!?!
Oh this is extremely legit. Good ol' Michael Davies and his Embassy Row production company are doing it for a CBS Daytime revival. It's one of three shows with the chance of taking the place of the now-canceled soap Guiding Light. Two things:
1: I've heard since before the pilot was taped that this almost a guarantee to be picked up, and sending out the applications seems to validate that. It'll start taping soon and air in September.
2: In the pilot it was The $1,000,000 Pyramid. Another million dollar daytime game show. If you remember the old 80s $100,000 Pyramid, it's exactly the same just with increased money. The first climb of the Pyramid wins you $25,000 and the second an additional $50,000. Best players come back at the end of the season for the $1,000,000 league of champions. If you get an application I seriously see absolutely no reason not to at least try for a million dollar game show, especially one as famous and revered as this one.

How about my particular reason? Although I suspect I'd be decent at this game (and loved it as a kid), my personal skill set runs more toward success at shows like WWTBAM and Jeopardy! As a result, I'd prefer to preserve my game show eligibility for one of those shows.thealexdavis wrote:Oh this is extremely legit. On the other hand, it will probably be a great show. Do they have someone signed on to host it yet?

Re: Pyramid Application?!?!
haha, perfectly good reason. I'm better at word games than stuff like Jeopardy and I'd be screwed with the clock on Millionaire, so that was just my reasoning. If I was remotely eligible I'd be trying out for $1M Pyramid in a heartbeat.slam wrote:How about my particular reason? For the pilot the hosts were Tim Vincent and Dean Cain. Michael's been trying to get Tim in any show he can it seems. In addition to guest hosting Millionaire he did the Chain Reaction (old crappy GSN original) pilot. I like Tim and I heard good things but I'd be stunned if he gets it for the sole factor of I'm sure, especially with the show airing in CBS daytime, CBS is going to want someone who can be understood without an accident 100% of the time. I've never seen Dean Cain do anything so I'm staying out of that one.

I'm not banking on ever passing the Jeopardy! test and it's been there done that for me on WWTBAM...so I'm excited about this!!thealexdavis wrote:haha, perfectly good reason. Don't sell yourself short re: the Jeopardy! test. You are highly intelligent, and you can always study up on the subjects that you feel you need to. It can be a long term goal!sunflower wrote:I'm not banking on ever passing the Jeopardy! test and it's been there done that for me on WWTBAM...so I'm excited about this!!thealexdavis wrote:haha, perfectly good reason. I like Pyramid (we play it at home), but I the thing I don't like about it is the same thing with Password and some other shows, you have to rely upon the kindess of strangers. If I bomb, I want it to be all my own fault. Ha!
Sharing smokes and a cup of joe with my friend, Insouciant Ruffian. Good times!
