Once again done in by a science Q5 that I have not seen posted here so far (gosh how nice would have ToLiveIsToFly's Q5 would have been)?

Q1 -- Arrange zoos in order georgraphically, North to South
Memphis Zoo
Bronx Zoo
Philadelphia Zoo
Miami Metro Zoo
Spoiler
2314
Q2 -- Arrange literary works, from the earliest:
Of Mice and Men
The Notebook
House of 7 Gables
Catcher in the Rye
Spoiler
3142
Q3 -- Arrange some sort of musical something or other (compressions? something?) from least to most...
this essentially turned out to be a Q1 math question:

1/16th
1/2
1/8th
Whole
Spoiler
1324
Q4 -- Arrange TV shows from earliest (this was on the bored)
Law and Order
The Closer
Saving Grace
The Wire
Spoiler
1423
Q5 -- Arrange Nobel Prize winners by when they received it, from the earliest:

Albert Einstein
Enrico Fermi
Marie Curie
Linus Pauling
Spoiler
it is 3124 -- i flipped the first two and, stupidly, the last 2. The years are: Curie: 1911, Einstein: 1921, Fermi: 1938, Pauling: 1962. I am guessing some of you know this, but it ain't "order states by admission" or order Supreme Court justices! Starting to get discouraged.... sigh.

Questions are paraphrased as well as memory and chicken scratches allow.

Saturday night (7/11/09):

Q1. Put the following words in order to form the name of an alcoholic beverage:
1. Tea
2. Long
3. Ice(d)
4. Island
Spoiler
2-4-3-1
Q2. Put the following NBA teams in the order of their home cities, starting in the east (My notes have just NJ, GState, Phx, & Indy, but I believe the answers gave both city & team name):
1. New Jersey Nets
2. Golden State Warriors
3. Phoenix Suns
4. Indiana Pacers
Spoiler
1-4-3-2
Q3. Put the following singers in order by birthdate, starting with the most recent:
1. Madonna
2. Whitney Houston
3. Jennifer Lopez
4. Alicia Keys
Spoiler
4-3-2-1 Did a double-take on the 4321, but I was pretty sure Madge is older than Whitney
Q4. Put the following Clint Eastwood movies in order of the date of their release, starting with the earliest:
1. The Outlaw Josey Wales
2. The Bridges of Madison County
3. Unforgiven
4. Gran Torino
Spoiler
1-3-2-4
Q5. Put the following astronomers in order by birthdate, starting with the most recent (answers may have included first names, but I didn't have them written down):
1. Kepler
2. Halley
3. Hubble
4. Copernicus
Spoiler
3-2-1-4
I can't believe it! I'm on the clock!!

I'm not proud, as I've seen many more difficult questions posted here, but I sure am happy!

Note to others still trying, especially ghost:
I tried and found I could not make use of the Feinberg Method on night one. I bombed out on Q1.

I missed the next three nights because I like to play in the last hour, but different distracting things came up each night, and I didn't get back to my computer until it was 15 minutes too late.

I read the posted questions to try to familiarize myself with any weak areas. I then tried again on night five and botched my answer on Q2. I was so nervous, I could barely hold my pen.

Today, I resigned myself to the fact that I would most certainly encounter a stumper question and never get through 5 in a row. I reviewed the new postings and then played again, but I was oddly relaxed as I waited for the Estokiller question to come up. It never did. I'm so glad I didn't just give up. My best advice is to not worry about getting on the game, not worry about what you don't know, just do what you can to relax and have fun playing the game. You just might get an easy stack.

Rosie confirms that the screen kiss couple was Rhett and Scarlett.

She's not sure about the animal lifespans (Q3) -- it may have been "average" lifespan, and she said she just took a guess anyway.

But whether it's average or maximum lifespan, I'm pretty sure elephants live longer than chimps. So if you get that Q, just use your best judgment.

Q1 Arrange these words to form a common saying
1. Habits
2. Die
3. Hard
4. Old
Spoiler
4-1-2-3, Old habits die hard.
Q2 Arrange these cities in order of their distance from San Francisco, starting with the closest
1. Rome, Italy
2. New York City, New York
3. Tokyo, Japan
4. Seattle, Washington
Spoiler
4-2-3-1. Seattle (684 mi.), NYC (2570 mi.), Tokyo (5144 mi.), Rome (6253 mi.).

Which was my gut reaction. Then I second-guessed myself, inexplicably stopped and wondered if the Pacific was narrower than North America, and punched in 4-3-2-1. I knew better than that! DAMN IT!!!!!

Way to fall flat on my face!

I've now written up the correct sad-fred-inducing Q3 in my "I was robbed!" thread. Here are the first two I got right:

Q1 Put these ailments in order, starting at the head:

Spoiler
3-1-2-4
Q2 Put these products in order of release, starting with the earliest:

Had a difficult Q2 last night.

Put these bands in order from when they released their first album, starting with the earliest.

1)The Eagles
2)The Byrds
3)The Partridge Family
4)Sheryl Crow
Spoiler
1)The Eagles (1972)
2)The Byrds (1965)
3)The Partridge Family (1970)
4)Sheryl Crow (later than those 3)

(2314)
I would expect this for a Q4 or Q5 considering the time frame in how close they were for 1-3.
I'd be more lethargic if I wasn't so apathetic.

Had I gotten this question, I'd have never been able to punch in the right sequence. Not because I didn't know it, but from laughing....

Since I don't have a landline phone any more, I'm sure that on the speakerphone from my iPhone, that first word would have sounded just like "Ass". And I doubt Fred would have been looking for "In. The. Ass. Hole."

OK, here goes the humiliation part. Some of these were really hard, to me. Obviously. Others were "what huh?".

Night 1:

Q1

1. hatch

2. down

3. batten

4. the
Spoiler
3,2,4.1 obviously

When the order is:

Alicia Keyes 2001
'N'Sync 1998
LL Cool J 1985
Sly & Family Stone 1967
When googling

'N'Sync
or however they spell it, I got hit with a massive computer virus attack, as symbolized by Symantec unsuccessfully trying to send me a zillion messages on an e-mail system I am not hooked up to; made it look like Symantec was the virus, whereas it was the anti-virus.
Spoiler
What I learned, though, is that LL Cool J had, like, test pressings only his family got copies of way earlier, but his 1st "real" recording was as far back as 1985. Who woulda knew? Not me, obviously. So its a fair out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night #2

Had just got news that family friend who was beaten into a coma by mugger had died. Now, I don't want to pretend that this guy was my best friend or anything. Just someone I knew; my sister & brother knew him much better. But still.

Q1:

Historical figures, early -----> recent

1. Anne Frank

2. Ben Franklin

3. St. Francis of Asissi

4. Frank Lloyd Wright

so what do I put?

Night #3

Q1.

music scale, low -----> high

So help me Hannah, I sing so much shape-note stuff I had the old English fasola scale in my head, which, in this case, didn't hurt one bit

1. so

2. la

3. fa

4. ti
Spoiler
3,1,2,4
Spoiler
Just for the record, the fasola scale goes fa-so-la-fa-so-la-mi-fa; same order as do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do

in this case, since they didn't have mi as a candidate, I realized my mistake while writing down "ti", in the right place anyway
Q2:

Movies, early ------> recent

1. Carrie

2. When Harry Met Sally

3. Marry Poppins

4. Something About Mary
Spoiler
3,1,4,2 is not right;
Spoiler
3,1,2,4 is right:
Spoiler
Poppins 1964
Carrie 1976
Harry/Sally 1989
Something About Mary 1998
Spoiler
Dumb to miss, but a legit miss all the same. I feel I have been hearing references to Something/Mary forever, all unpleasant stuff that I do not find funny

1,3,2,4 right
Spoiler
Pulp 1994
6th 1999
9 Yd 2000
Die Hard 2007
I hate Bruce Willis, the smug jerk, but did like 6th Sense. Have never seen any of the others. I will watch Pulp Fiction when I really want to see torturers talking hip, which is not soon. I deserved to get this one wrong.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night 6

Q1:

a phrase

1. good

2. food

3. is

4. soup
Spoiler
4,3,1,2

I had seen the Pelican movie on TV a long time ago; usually movies come out a while after books, but this one with a young Julia Roberts must have been made before the presses cooled off, or whatever.
An honest got-wrong.

Alright, I think Fred set me up with a crap question (#3)so watch out. Tough stack altogether though.

Q1
Place these words in order to form a research center.
1. Oceanographic
2.Hole
3.Institute
4.Wood
Spoiler
4213
Q2
Place these characters in the order of there 1st appearance starting with the earliest
1.Dr. Faustus
2.Dr. Doolittle
3.Dr. Zhivago
4.Dr. Jeckyl
Spoiler
1423
Q3
Place these words in order to form a 1997? song
1. Wop
2. That
3. Doo
4. Thing
Spoiler
3124
More explanation of answer
Spoiler
The song is Doo Wop (That Thing) by Lauryn Hill. I am very familiar with the song in fact I would say it is right in my wheelhouse being a fan of hip hop and R&B. But the song is NEVER called "Doo Wop That Thing". It's either one or the other. I think the title comes from the fact the title "doo wop" never occurs in the song so the most often repeated line became an unofficial title.
Anyway, no one said the Phone Game was fair and I want to give as many people fair warning as possible.

3 more chances.

This is the stack my father got tonight:
