elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need. In the beginning they would talk about the work, how it was done, etc., but now that's just a passing thing.

It's not that elwing is heartless, but she likes knowing how things are done (possibly with an eye toward doing something like it herself - she is very handy with tools, unlike yours truly). I've suggested she might prefer "Trading Spaces" or another of the shows of that genre.

You could make the same argument that there are other needy families in each state - why one and not the others?
