You know... EMHE
normally has me bawling like a baby. I mean tissue-worthy crying.
Not so much tonight. I don't even think I shed a tear.

The guy on the show, Paul, I think, cries enough for me.otherindigo wrote:normally has me bawling like a baby. I mean tissue-worthy crying.

elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need. In the beginning they would talk about the work, how it was done, etc., but now that's just a passing thing.peacock2121 wrote:I am no scrooge.

This show just makes me want to cringe.

Why should she complain about that?earendel wrote:elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need. What's more important- the family's needs or how they did the wainscotting in the dining room?

It's not that elwing is heartless, but she likes knowing how things are done (possibly with an eye toward doing something like it herself - she is very handy with tools, unlike yours truly). I've suggested she might prefer "Trading Spaces" or another of the shows of that genre.Jeemie wrote:Why should she complain about that?earendel wrote:elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need. For once, I would just like to see an average family without a sob story, have their house redone.

Well, most people would not tune in to see such a show.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:I agree with her.earendel wrote:elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need. "Why them and not us?"
Now, when they choose people who really do not need help, . . .
that is a different matter.

You could make the same argument that there are other needy families in each state - why one and not the others?Appa23 wrote:Well, most people would not tune in to see such a show.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:I agree with her.earendel wrote: elwing likes to watch the show, but even she has complained that it's not so much any more about the home makeover as it is about the family in need.
