Spam advice needed
I got spam showing one of my email addresses as the sender. What does that mean and should I be doing anything about it?
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Well, you could serve it with eggs over easy, or put it in a sandwich, or...oh, you want advice about e-mail spam, not SPAM.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:I got spam showing one of my email addresses as the sender. What does that mean and should I be doing anything about it?
Chances are there's nothing wrong - someone who has you in his or her address book, however, probably has a virus that propagates via e-mail and sends itself to every address in that person's address book. If there were no attachments, it's probably safe, but I'd delete it and then empty the Trash folder.
OTOH it never hurts to do a virus scan on your computer just to be sure you aren't infected.

Most likely they just forged the "From" address and happened to pick your name from a list. There's nothing to do about that.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:I got spam showing one of my email addresses as the sender. What does that mean and should I be doing anything about it?
You can run a virus scan and anti-spyware scan on your PC, just to make sure nothing has infested it.
