Q1: Place these letters in order to form a word that means "the way out".
1) T
2) E
3) X
4) I
Spoiler
2341
Q2: Place these historical figures in chronological order by birth, starting with the earliest
1) Robert E. Lee
2) Alexander the Great
3) Thurgood Marshall
4) Queen Isabella I
Spoiler
2413
Q3: Place these bodily afflictions in order of the body part they affect, from head to toe.
1) Gastritis
2) Hammertoe
3) Glaucoma
4) Goitre
Spoiler
3412
I didn't know what goitre was, but I figured since there was a large gap of body between "gastritis" and "hammertoe" and a small gap (albeit one that has a lot more going on) between "gastritis" and "glaucoma" that I it'd be somewhere in the nether regions. Wr-wr-wr-wrong!

Try #4 tomorrow (because I still haven't been repaid for being locked out on Monday).
In this town, don't we love it now, everbody's waiting for the next surprise!

I've usually seen it spelled as "goiter." It's a swelling of the thyroid gland in the neck (as you probably know by now). --Bob

Not making excuses, just stating facts and stupidity, stupidity on my part for not laying down and resting before calling in. Have had the grandchildren the last three days, day one I was okay, well just not worn to a fazzle yet. Yesterday and today were not good. A almost 62 year old taking care of energetic 4 and 5 year olds, it can whip your butt.

Went down on Question 2 yesterday and knew it as well as I know my own name -

Question 1 - arrange olives in order of size, starting with the smallest

1. small
2. super colossal
3. large
4. jumbo

1, 3, 4, 2

Question 2 -

Arrange Jenny Craig spokesman, starting with the earliest

1. Kirstie Alley
2. Falicia Rashad
3. Valerie Bertenelli
4. Queen Latifah

1, 3, 2, 4 which is not what I punched, stupid, I know

Tonight

Question 1 -

1. Malay
2. Edna
3. St.
4. Vincent

obvious 2, 3, 4, 1

Question 2 -

Arrange political scandals in order starting with the earliest

1. Watergate
2. Travelgate
3. Iran Contra
4. Teapot Dome

4, 1, 3, 2 which is not what I punched, which was exceptionally stupid considering I lived through all of them except Teapot Dome but studied it in history class.

Tomorrow will rest before calling, my impatience has always been the death of me.

So decided I was not going to go down easy, hubby gave me permission to use his info, just so I could prove to myself I really wasn't stupid -

Question 1 -

Arrange words to form computer operating system called BIOS

1. System
2. Output
3. Basic
4. Input

promptly punched 3, 4, 2, 1 and got Sad Fred, okay I am convinced, I'm stupid for using hubby's info, Fred hates me, the Gods are against me and I promise I will never do it again Fred, now get off my case!!!!!!!!!!!

Q1 Cobol

Q2 1991 Michael Bolton album
Time, Love & Tenderness

Why can’t I get a music question on Q’s 4 or 5?

Q3 Put these artists in geographical order by their country of birth starting in the Pacific Ocean and moving east

1. Yoko Ono
2. Claude Monet
3. Michelangelo
4. Norman Rockwell

Well I’m 100% sure that I punched in 1-4-2-3. I only wrote Ono down and wrote France, Italy & US for the others. Now unless Japan has somehow moved out of the Pacific recently or if France & Italy have changed places, then I’m not sure what happened.

I knew the answer, but reversed bolt & boiling. When I played it back I can then be heard saying, “Damn” & “I fat fingered”. I realized afterward that hadn’t fat fingered but just couldn’t read my own handwriting and had just punched the order in wrong.

Where’s that video camera?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think lightning is hotter even than the sun. I'm thnking I've seen that tidbit somewhere.
I know that for a fact after getting a Sploofus question on that wrong a month or so ago.

If you're starting with the Pacific Ocean, wouldn't Japan be last since Japan is west of the Pacific?? 4-2-3-1

Out on Q4 for me tonight, maybe if I read a book once in a while, as opposed to watching a movie I would know how old some of these are (at least I had heard of them). Oh well, next time.

Yes. I got that one tonight (Q2), and got Gatsby and Tarzan right, but fumbled on the Firm and Stepford Wives (and actually, I ordered them correctly in my head, but punched the numbers in worng).
Spoiler
Tarzan of the Apes (1914)
The Great Gatsby (1925)
The Stepford Wives (1972)
The Firm (1991)
Now I have to try calling from home for the next couple of nights, which will be annoying, because I will have to take the handset away from my ear to punch in the numbers. I've got a better phone for this purpose at work, with the traditional receiver/cord/phone configuration, so I can hold the receiver in one hand and punch buttons with the other.

Question 1:

Place the following fashion items in the order in which they are usually worn from head to toe, starting with the head.

1. Pantaloon
2. Lei
3. Espadrille
4. Camisole

Question 2:

Place the following organisms in the order in which they appear in the food chain, starting with the lowest.

1. Algae
2. Cod
3. Krill
4. Human

Question 3:

Place the following capital cities in geographic order starting in North America and going east.

1. Ottawa
2. Zagreb
3. Bali(?)
4. Bucharest

Question 4:

Place the following books by First Ladies in chronological order by their first publication. (I am certain that Fred was silent as to where to start.)

1. Barbara Bush: A Memoir
2. First Lady from Plains
3. My Turn
4. It Takes a Village

Question 5:

Place the following comedians in the order of their birth, starting with the most recent.

1. Dick Gregory
2. James Thurber
3. Margaret Cho
4. David Sedaris
Spoiler
1. 2413
2. 1324
3. 1243
4. 2314
5. 3412
The rest of the story.
Almost none of these questions were easy for me. I blanked on espadrille and very nearly reversed the last two answers to Question 1. Question 2 was the only clear gimme. I cannot be sure what Fred said for my third choice on Question 3, but I figured it had to be last. I wasn't sure, though, that Zagreb was west of Bucharest. In Question 4, I couldn't remember who wrote My Turn. Fortunately, I went for the only apparent gap and it proved to be correct. Question 5 was a straightforward application of Spock's Law. Unfortunately, the name I wasn't familiar with was David Sedaris.

So I'm playing again tomorrow when I get back from the bridge tournament.

elwing decided that she didn't want me in the room with her when she tried qualifying - said I made her nervous. So I left, and she made the call.

Q3. Arrange these authors in chronological order according to their date of birth, starting with the earliest:
1 - J.K. Rowling

I heard a frustrated "Aaaargh!" and went to investigate. "I know I punched in the right numbers," elwing said. But when I checked the phone display it appeared that she had fat-fingered. Rather than "2341" the display showed 2334 - which of course brought Sad Fred on the line.
Evidently my absence helped because she made it to Q3.

Dammit, dammit, dammit... DAMMIT!!!

I got to Q5 and I knew it. I KNEW IT! It was EASY. Heck, the whole stack was easy, but especially the 5th one. I knew I was gonna qualify. And then... I punched it in wrong. Not a fat finger in the truest sense. Just punched the wrong number. I guess I got excited because I knew I knew it, and so I didn't pay enough attention to what I was doing. Like the out fielder who tries to throw the ball before he's caught it, and ends up dropping the damned thing.

You know, in fairness to myself, as I type that last question, I remember that Fred sort of marble-mouthed the fourth choice, and it took me a second or two to figure out what he'd said, which in turn put just a little extra time pressure on me. But I really did know it. Dammit.
This should have been my night.
