I'm sure this has been mentioned before but it looks like to me like they have just cut to the chase and gone to an "R2" style round right off the bat. No three-question qualifier to get to an R2.

Yes, they did this in the final version of the primetime Phone Game, back in 2001, IIRC, and during SuperMillionaire. Just one round of five questions and then hope for the call!

It's certainly more efficient for TPTB, when they don't care about the competition aspect of it, anyway.
