I don't know why it even matters. I'm not up on my game show laws, but they aren't required to give a test at all, are they? And if they did give a test, it could be one of those like they have in Canada where they just ask prize winners something like what's 4 plus 5 to hold to the letter of the law that it be skill based.

You are right, Fanny. Like DoND, for those who read my audition thread...there is no test and there are barely even any questions asked. 2 minutes to get your perkitude across over the other 9 people talking to the same AP at the same time. THIS is way better than THAT. But I'm not complaining, I did my best to shine. Point being, no test required...

PS I love that people have adopted perkitude, I think soon it will be come an official word....(and yes, I did know I made it up)

This new way of selecting contestants will allow the producers to screen hopefuls to assure that they get the desired ages, sexes, races, personalities, etc. But it leaves open a big loophole for undesirables to get through. There's no guarantee that the people they pick won't smell bad. That could be a big advantage over your opponents in the Ring Of Fire. Come to think of it, that might be why they assigned me both times to Seat #1.

Actually, I was on the show. From an audition, of all things. The Prime Time show. Obviously, I did not win my 2 FFs.

Few who passed an audition for "ROF contestant" passed it again for "put right into the seat on Syndi". Silvercam did that. Anyone else?

Lots of people have. From my RoF group alone, three were selected for SyndiBAM -- me, Amaz, and a guy from L.A. named Alex, who was on one of the very first syndicated shows.

However, I do agree that an in-person test should be given to make sure that the auditioner was really the person taking the online test. Unless they're just looking for RoF fodder who can wave nicely at the camera but will be nearly certain to fail while their road auditioners keep winning the FF rounds.

I'm with pea on this, sort of. I'm not an overly original type for videos or ideas for them. Still, I may give this a shot.

I would be interested in seeing what types of video are successful. Are they looking for outrageous and over the top? Or more like loaded with perkitude and pleasant to look at? Certainly not a Ben Stein persona, but do they want Ozzy Osbourne wannabes?

I don't get it. If you had no problem with the phone game, where someone could easily have had another play for them - what's with the problem with the on line test?

If you are thinking of sending a video - make it good about how the money will change your life.

Make it compelling and have them want you to get the money.

Play the game - the game before sitting in the hot seat is "Make Them Want Me".

I couldn't have said it better myself. Every potential contestant should take this to heart and also remember what Pea said earlier about (paraphrasing here) being able to script and rehearse and edit, which is a HUGE advantage over a live interview. Start preparing, get those videos made and for goodness sake, get excited and be positive!!!

And, you know, standing in line at the Tampa auditions, there were some explosive personalities around me (as well as some obnoxious personalities, but still, the kind of outgoing people TPTB would probably like). There was a guy who was the spitting image of Santa who made balloon animals for people in line. Balloon animals! There were these two "beer and a TV" guys up at the front who were enthusiastic. There was the bubbly teacher behind me I mentioned in another thread. None of them passed the test. All would have probably been given the video interview, and all would likely make it to the producer's shortlist of audition tapes, but hence the hole they will have dug themselves into.

I guess if your only goal is a trip to NYC, then you could do that. Seems kinda pointless otherwise, and a ripoff of any people you've bumped out of the online test who are actually seeking the hot seat.

From my ROF group, nada have made it back.

Since 3 are very important to those 3 but I think we can agree are not "a lot" in the grand cosmic scheme of things, does anyone have stats on this?

Uppity is a nasty word, if only because it’s usually followed by an even more hateful word. One shouldn’t refer to presidential candidates or, really, anyone as such.

Still, what I wouldn’t give to be able to describe my breasts as uppity. They are not uppity, as they used to be. Not completely downity, but they used to be more uppity.

Twin pregnancy + some 25-plus years of gravity + genetics = downity breasts.

Now, uppity is supposed to mean arrogant or presumptuous. My boobs were never such; even in my teens, they were modest in their perkitude. But now they are humbled, grateful for the support of Victoria’s Secret, grateful for the icy-cold plates of a mammograph, and grateful, really, to be included in the conversation.

So call my breasts anything you like. Uppity is fine. Just don’t call them chicken.

I dunno anyone who will loan me one (maybe I do but don't know that I do) but I do (ahem) know a shop that sometimes rents & even loans audio equipment to those whose audio equipment (that would be me) they are fixing.

If it helps, I do bad video, so if I had 3 less game show experiences, this would not be good for me.
