Here comes the next storm

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Sat Dec 15, 2007 1:42 pm

I see southern Illinois, Indiana and Ohio and western Pennsylvania are getting hit now. It looks like it's going to go north of here.

Good luck to our affected BBs.

The snow began here in Ohio early this morning. Finished about 40 minutes ago only to be followed by freezing rain.

Can't tell how much we got. More than a couple of inches. Maybe 4ish?

Last I got the update, ours will start after 12:00 midnight. It is not suppose to be light.

We don't need to go any where tomorrow.

Our neighbor is fit to be tied. The main driveway (actually the private road) has been plowed but not scraped. She couldn't get all the way up to her driveway and had to four-track her groceries and such from her car to her house.

She is 4 months sober and her husband is away. She said that if it weren't for her sponsor, she would be drinking again.

We're under a winter storm warning until 7pm tomorrow-up to 12 inches of the stuff is going to fall.

We're supposed to get several inches of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain, then maybe back to snow before it stops. All with a wicked wind. Sure am glad I don't have tickets to the Patriots game tomorrow.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I was out shopping in it all afternoon -- mostly, it just rained. Little bit of snow mixed in. Nothin' bad.

We're just a little concerned about Karen & Johnny -- they live up on a very steep hill, and they don't necessarily salt the streets up there right away. This baby could come any time now (had a little false alarm last night) -- and Johnny's only been driving for a few months, so he's never driven in snow! (Remember, they're both only 18.) Karen's a much more experienced driver, but I don't think you're supposed to drive yourself to the hospital in labor!

They plan to call John's dad & grandma, who live pretty close, when the time comes.

We got very little last night. Some sleet coming down now (at least that's not sticking to the trees and power lines) but predicted to turn back to snow later this afternoon.

Convenient enough timing, happening on a Sunday, when I don't even have to think about going anywhere!

Bah!

I got a giftcard at Home Depot yesterday, and browsed at Kohl's without buying anything. Then I had my regular "Roadrage Resistance" lesson inside Wegmans. That supermarket is usually quite busy around lunch time on Saturdays; yesterday, it was doubly so with everyone stocking up for the storm.

Looks like it's changing over to snow, right on schedule...

It rained all night and morning. Now it's just cold & windy -- but the sun is out! Watch the Steeler game & see if the weather changes in the next hour or so :)

One admittedly minor problem with all the wet weather we've had lately -- the snow-blowing mechanism in my Charlie Brown Christmas Snowglobe tends to clog up from condensation. I just have to run it as much as possible, even in the daytime, to try & dry it out.

We got about 6 inches last night/this morning. Right now it's sunny outside, but there's more snow on the way-we're still under the storm warning until 7pm tonight.

The Weather Channel is talking about another storm that will start in the Pacific Northwest around Wednesday and will be moving east just in time for Christmas weekend-when everybody is traveling! Ugh. I hate winter.

Congrats to your neighbor!

<SadStoryAlert> Back in my HR life, we hired someone we didn't know was in recovery. She had a great interview and excellent references. Then her third day at work she showed up about two hours late and drunk on her butt. She had serious car trouble and decided that knocking back half a bottle of vodka from her neighbor's unlocked dining room would help her feel better about it. She caught a ride into work and was fired by noon after she racked up more than .15 on the Breathalyzer. </SadStoryAlert>

Yikers.

Said neighbor got her car stuck in the ditch on the main driveway. She had her daughter call to see if Sting could come and help. He declined, as it was still raining ice (can it rain ice?). He said he would come in 90 minutes when it was over and he could get Millie out on the driveway.

She wouldn't wait and dug her own self out.

I hope her sponsor gets a call.
