QOD Friday 12-14 "I FIXED IT AND CHANGED IT"

#1 Post by fantine33 » Fri Dec 14, 2007 7:58 am

12/14 WHAT A CHARACTER!

I've given you the name of a character in a movie or tv show that has been portrayed by John Goodman. You give me the name of the movie/show.

1. Dan Connor

2. Andre de Soto

3. James P. "Sully" Sullivan

4. Walter Sobchak

5. Uncle Sweetheart

QOD: Goodman has had several tv series in the past few years that haven't gone anywhere. Which one of them had Ed Asner and Olympia Dukakis as his parents.

5 Point Bonus: What former Department of Defense employee fits into this category?

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

1. Gale Snoats

No idea where this is from.

2. Andre de Soto

I Have No Eye Deer, Part Deux

3. James P. Sullivan

Coincidentally, this DVD is running as we speak! Erin woke up and said her name is Boo and asked for Monsters, Inc! I complied as soon as the power came on (there was a wreck around the corner.) John Goodman

4. Walter Sobchak

Once again.....

5. Uncle Sweetheart

I suppose I should know this, but nopers.

QOD: What do all these characters have in common? I can't even joke and say they are all characters I have never heard of, thanks to #3, so I can't even answer this, unless this is considered an answer, then it's obviously wrong....

(Don't get cute, you know what I mean. There is only one answer that is acceptable for QOD purposes, because it also has to fit the bonus.)

Sorry for getting semi-cute in my inimitably lame way....

Spoiler
Two days in a row I don't know any of them.

I would like to guess the QOD since double of zero is zero, but I can't even come up with anything for that!

OK...I get a 2nd chance at the QOD...which I think is The West Wing..if not double zero is still zero , but maybe I don't look so stupid.

Anxious to see how many others know this stuff.

Spoiler
I'm not sure what to do here. After I fanned on the first version, I went looking up the names. So now I know more than I would have if I had first seen this without looking up the answers. I would have gotten #1 and probably #3 with the "Sully" clue and the John Goodman clue. #4 is a bit tougher. I might have guessed it correctly but I might have also guessed "Raising Arizona". No chance on #2 or #5.

I still don't know the QoD or the Bonus so I think I'll just stick with my zero.

One of only two questions I can attempt answering, and I confuse James P. with David, because I had no clue about the theme. At least he was a "Sully".

Okay, "confuse" isn't right either, because I had no recollection that the right "Sully" had a longer, proper name.
